  • Oh...Can you get it in writing they sold the debts on and to who.
  • How ignorant of me...Welcome to the site.
  • Thanks,

Yeah I got a letter saying they have now passed the debt on to Link Financial LTD on the 12th November 2007.
  • Hi,

Being passed means the debt is still with them.Any charges you claim will go back to them.
  • Be aware all you Abbey Customers, I have today discovered a 2p Interest charge on my current account. When I queried this charge I was told by customer services that it was just a 'glich in the system'. Imagine if that glich has affected 1,000,000 or more of us? Check your current accounts now!

I had £3.88 worth of interest charged earlier this month, in error. I rang the complaints department and the woman I spoke with agreed that at no stage had the account been in the red. On speaking to the department concerned, she was advised that it might have been something to do with an uncleared cheque. I retorted by saying either the account is in the red or it isn't. I wanted my money back and an investigation into how this occurred.

Upon receipt of an apology 'fob-off' letter, incorrectly addressed to myself and myself (we have a joint account and I (Mrs) am first-named), I telephoned the Chairman's office and repeated my request for an investigation into this matter. I just wonder how many other customers they have 'stolen money' from.

To add insult to injury, when logging on to my 16 year old DD's account yesterday, I found that she paid tax in November and December. The account was opened in August when she turned 16 and a form R85 was completed. No tax was deducted in August, September or October. DD will be telephoning the Chairman's office when she gets home from school. She will have to go through security, without my prompting, and then give authority for someone to talk to me.

When I told DD about this last night, she said, 'Goody, does that mean I get a pair of black UGGS?' When the Abbey seriously messed up linking her existing esaver to her new current account for the purposes of ebanking, she was offered £120 in compensation.

If other people are experiencing the same errors from the Abbey, it might be that they have to be reported to the Banking Ombudsman.
  • Hi
Can some one tell me if this has happened to them. I recieved a letter from Abbey last year after I had been through the procedure of reclaiming my bank charges I'd asked for them to re-emburse me. They replied explaining that an agency was taking over all matters to do with reclaims. That was a year ago and I haven't heard anything. Has this happened to anyone else and how long is this going to take.?
    Regards
    Cabaron.
  • Just got off the phone to Abbey, They charging me £25 for going £0.54p over my overdraft!! What a joke and when i confronted them the said it was a standard charge and couldn't do anything about it! needless to say i was straight on the phne to LLoyds TSB to open a account so i can switch.

No wonder everyone is fuming about bank charges!!
  • Sorry to let you down but with Lloyds TSB if you go overdrawn by 54p you'll be charged between £21 (1 day) up to £75 (10 days or over) although you would get your first charge waived if its a small amount.

Unfortunately these are standard charges as in; all banks have them.
    Credit card debts = £750
    Mortgage Remaining = £82227
