    Hi All,
Has anyone noticed that the shabbey have stopped sending letters out to inform you that a payment has not been made, and they are taking charges from your account, is this so we don't have the evidence for the court bundle, any thoughts?

Haven't noticed, but surely if they've stopped sending letters then their costs must go down further ? seems strange when they are trying to justify why their charges need to be set to the level they are.
  • Hi,

I know this has probably been asked already but this website is daunting when you're a newbie so I don't seem to be able to find any answers for my situation!!

I have added up about £1700 worth of charges from my Abbey bank account but is there any point in trying to claim them back now? Can I take them straight to court? I really don't know what to do but I don't want to leave it and just let them have all my money....

    Thank you
    Eve x x
  • Hi Eve, By what i have been told All requests for bank charge refunds have been put on hold until the goverment sort it out! However, I would still write to your bank stating that you still request your charges refunded so that it is still on their records! But there's no telling if & when you will get it! But at least it would still put it all in motion. Hope this helps! Bubbly
  • Thank you for your help, I will start doing it now!! x x
  • You must follow the step by step guide in Martin's article although it is likely their initial reply will be that all cases will be on hold.

  • I got my statement from Shabby today, now I work in retail and Aug was a terrible month and hence I was short in my account for a few days now I'm the 1st to admit this has happened in the past too hence why I going to try and reclaim, but these charges are the pits. Talk about hit a person when they're down:

Paid item fee £40.00 was paid - not enough in account CHARGE £30.00
Unpaid item fee S/O £10.00 not paid not enough in account - CHARGE £35.00
Unpaid item fee S/O £10.00 not paid not enough in account - CHARGE £35.00
Unpaid item fee S/O £200.00 not paid not enough etc - CHARGE £35.00
Paid debit card transaction £12.00 paid not enough in account CHARGE £30.00 - I though debit cards came straight off your balance, hence why you have to use your pin to get the transaction authorised.
    Unauth O/D/Instant o/d monthly fee CHARGE £25.00

    Total CHARGE - £190.00

So I finally have a good week and pay the people who didn't get paid above, have a couple of hundred spare in the bank and Shabby grab it

I just hope I can grab it all back, although that's not going to help me this week now they've said they are going to grab my spare cash, and the mortgage is due so I needed that money in the account

I don't get any letters/statements from my bank,it's all done electronically through email so I can see exactly what you mean.

    Hi All,
Spoke to a clerk at St Helens County Court today to ask how both my wife's & my own claims are progressing. The clerk said that they had both been stayed. The annoying thing is that we have paid to have our day in court to the tune of £120 each, plus my own AQ £100. The clerk even said that the Shabbey's solicitors had sent the wrong paperwork in, so they were giving them more time to apply for the stay on my wife's claim. He said it would all be explained in the letter from the court, but the Bl**dy post in Liverpool is on strike at the moment, so if I've got a deadline to counter claim the stay I could well lose out again.

Getting really fed up of being done over by not only the banks but also by spineless judges who couldn't make the right decision to save their lives.

Well that's my little rant out of the way & my spleen has been vented (sorry Nathan don't mean you lol!).

Any way good luck to everyone else. Signed P*ssed off of Liverpool.

  • Keep at it Sparky, you'll get there :-)

Know what you mean with the banks though, look at my post above and tell me how they get away with it ?

"Oh hello Sir, you're rich, have this nice interest rate on your savings paid for by the fines levied on those who can't afford it, whom we charge just to keep them in the brown stuff"
