    Hi,

I am trying to reclaim from the abbey. I have my second letter with list of charges and interest but when I took it to the branch, they would not accept it saying they are no longer dealing with reclaims. They said I would need to phone in for an address to post it to when I phoned thier overseas contact centre I was transferred for over 20 minutes back and forth then told it needed to be posted to my local branch.
Does anyone have a name and/or address to send it to, like a customer liason officer at a head ofice or should I be going to my branch.

    any advice would be appreciated
This is the address i used:
    Abbey National PLC
    Abbey National House
    2 Triton Square
    Regents Place
    LOndon
    NW13 AN

Same scenario here but we're only after £100, its now comeing up to 8 weeks so I shall be expecting the same response. The only advice to my last post was sue them (could/should we get representation or is this unneccesary - or should I use the ombudsman? Its my partner's account so I need to advise how to get the ball rolling.

You can no longer use the Financial Ombudsman for reclaiming I'm afraid so you need to start a court action, please read Martin's Emergency Guide.

I have been claimimg from abbey since march got as far as court proceedings and now due to the test case abbey have paused proceedings and telephonned my local court in ashford and they aren't hearing any cases. had a look on the ombudsman medsite and they have stopped looking at cases to. does this mean i have got to wait up to two years for any refund i my be due. totally gutted as we was really relying on that money, really skint. many thanks to all who reply.

I have been claimimg with abbey since march recieved the standard letters, anyway started court proceedings on the 7th july and they entered a defence. I got a bit worried about this test case so telephonned abbey and my local court and they have stayed all cases. today i get the defence letter from abbey dated the 31st july. I would have thought that the court would have carried on with all logged cases obviously not. Iam just a little confused and gutted because was really relying on the reclaim.
  • hello,
I have been claiming my charges back from abbey, i am upto the stage where next tuesday there 14 days are up and then i can issue court procedings .

the only letter i have had back off them regarding anything to do with my claim is the actual statements , i received one other letter thanking me for my complaint , what this was i have no idea
Not one time have i been contacted even though i sent all the other letters and a letter to accept a lower amount.
So no responces and there time is up do i go forward with my claim in the courts ?

I have been watching the site for a while now and feel totally walked all over by the bank and the regulatory bodies that are supposed to protect us .
abbey have done nothing to respond dragged there heels and just made the rules up as they go along.
they are also adding new charges to my account , they were taking £250 a month in charges from me coz of there catch 22 situation they put you in ie taking all your money and then charging you again 2 days later ...

Can anyone give me any advice on what to do because it seems they can do what the hell they like and we get to do nothing.
thought i would ask here as it seems nothing is being done on either side on the bank charges front lately
    many thanks steve

hi can anyone help?,my partner and i are at two different stages of claiming ,this oft stuff has kinda thrown us ,and we now don't know what to do. he has had offer from the bank, which he turned down , bank not negotiating , went to ombudsman, oft thing came about, ombudsman wrote back saying they were gonna wait for the out come of the courtcase. mine put in my claim with abbey, giving them 14 days, they wrote back after 1 week , saying 14 days was not enough time, they would respond within 4 weeks.that 4 weeks is up on mon.usually that means i would win by default.if it doesn't turn up mon , but what happens now?
  • Can someone help/advise me? After having had enough of abbey taking the mickey out of me i had decided to start the process of reclaiming my bank charges, however i was dismayed to read that the banks are not process anymore claims until they have been to court....could anyone tell me whether it would be worth starting the claim anyway?

    Thanks

Sorry, can't advise, but this is interesting. We've just received a letter from Abbey suggesting we go to the odbudsman. They obviously know what the odbudsman is going to write back:rolleyes:

Annoying thing is, we are only claiming £150 for charges that really never ever should have been charged as Abbey was in error in the first place.

It is not clear what your letter says but you would only win by default if you had issued a claim i the court and they had failed to respond in 14 days with an acknowledgment or a defence. If the 14 days was before you issued court proceedings then you could issue court proceedings but what the court will do is unsure as some courts are staying cases others are not.
