I would write accepting the £425 as part payment without prejudice but advise that you will be continuing to pursue the remaining charges that you consider that you are owed.
Make sure you get some sort of proof of sending. Recorded delivery is good but not if the address is a PO BOX! I suggest you fax or e mail in that situation.
Good luck!!0 -
I too have had contact but via email with Ronan Coyle, I am due to submit AQ next Monday and pay another £100 my total claim prior to this is £2286 I offered to settle for £2200 and he responded that Abbey would not accept this amount as it did not agree with their contention that i should pay at least some of the fee for each referral(words to that effect) however he made a counter offer of £1774 being 75% of the claim. I anticipated this and have gone back with a counter offer of £2000 (monday evening) the wording of his email implied he was open to negotiation. My point being he seems an ok guy who just has a sh**y job. Anyway I wanted to ask you where you get the "Self litigation" fee from (£230) I will also add this to my claim should he not take my current offer so would appreciate a reference. Thanks.0

My brother in law asked Abbey for £1800 back. They said we think we acted fairly but will give you £300 as a goodwill gesture and final settlement.
Any advice ?0 -
I took the sum of £230 from a previous post.
I have broken it down to fit my particular case as follows:
£100 - 5 letters at £20 per letter
£130 - 1 days loss of earnings to appear at court as I will have to take unpaid leave.
If I have to write more letters or take more time off work I will adjust the fee accordingly.0 -
Yeah, write a letter and continue with proceedings against them that offer is a joke!! It will rise, stick to your guns remember, its your brother in laws money, Im claiming for a similar amount (£1650 or £1950 with interest) the minimum offer I would accept is £1500 personally, you could get your B-I-L to reach a figure he will be happy at you could even ring the bank and try to negotiote this over the phone? as a few people have had success doing that,
Whatever you decide good luck

I HAVE BEATEN THE ABBEY!!!!:j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j
I stuck with it and followed the info on this site and won hands down without even having to go to court.
I applied to go to court as they said they would not back down. Paid the £120 and then got a letter from the Judge at my local court saying that unless the Abbey could prove that they were justified taking the £1745 in charges, and that they had not admitted liability by refunding other charges on accounts within their organisation, then there was no court case to be heard and they had to pay me in full + interest + fees.
THEY PAID ME £2400 :rotfl:
Stick with it and it will be worth it.0 -
Hello everyone just new on here.Have posted a few threads but been unable to find replies if any.My queries are:-

2)Got 3 accounts mortgage, savings and current. What will happen to them will they close all three??
3)In arrears with mortgage can any refund of charges be used to pay the arrears off????????????

I am in the middle of claiming £2696.38 from Abbey through MCOL, they have acknowledged and now have until the 2nd August to put in a defence, apart from the usual 'looking into it, need more time' letters I have heard little from them. After reading most of the posts on here I realise that Abbey take it all the way, but I was hoping for a GOGW by now (not that I would accept it, I plan on going all the way with the claim) Do they always offer a gesture or am I jumping the gun???:T August win - Models Own Lipstick0
