this is going to make tracking replies quite awkward - dont undertand can someone explain where the thread has gone please and how I get other replies?0

As this is just one board on the forums of MSE we don't have the space to have individual threads for each person's claim. Neither do we have the time to answer questions that get repeated across the boards regarding the individual banks so threads are merged under each bank or topic.
You can subscribe to this thread and then you will be notified if anyone aswers this particular thread.0 -
I'm starting the process of claiming bank charges back. Could anyone tell me if they have had success claiming from Abbey?0

A lot of Abbey stories in this thread and in the Success Stories thread0

Hi guys,
I sent mine off before Xmas, and sent Letter 2 on the 8th Jan. I recieved the standard "we will be in touch blah blah" type letter on the 19th. I then sent off the letter 3 with an offer to pay just 75% (£1,450) and i'd forget it all.
I guess i'm playing the waiting game.
Whether i win, lose or end up with next to nothing, thanks must go out the people on this board for making everyone aware.
Cheers all.0 -
I have logged a complaint with the Abbey on 24th Nov. I requested bank statements and paid £20. I have not received them. I have had many letters from Abbey saying theyare looking into my complaint. Last week I sent a letter (from this website) saying I was reporting them to the ICO which I have done. I received a letter this morning saying that they were out of their 8 weeks (smount of time they allow themselves to deal with complaints) and that I should contact the Financial Ombudsman if I wasn't happy but they are still looking into my case.
Should I do this? any advice would be helpful.
Thanks

Gee it's a tough one but i think if it were me i would definatly report them AND also begin court proceedings. That'll put a rocket up their backside!!.0

There is no '8 weeks' (they've fed you a load of manure). they have breached your rights under the Data Protection Act by not sending out your information within 40 days.
Send THIS LETTER ASAP. If they don't send the statements within 7 days. Complain to the Information Commissioner. This is nothing to do with the Financial Ombudsman, this is a Data Protection Act issue. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

You can't just jump into court proceedings without getting the information first to make a claim though.0 -

Having said that, do what Rex suggests first and then file a complaint with the FO regarding the delay in handling your case.0
