Can anyone help a friend has sent a letter to the Abbey claiming £1400.00 worth of charges- they have offered him £600.00
Should he accept this or write back saying no
We would be grateful for any help
Cheers0 -
Personally I would tell them that you accept this offer as part payment and without prejudice and will continue claiming for the rest in court.Reclaimed thanks to this site:
£175 Abbey Mortgage Repayment Fee, £170.03 Capital One Bank Charges £418.07 Lloyds TSB Bank Charges, £2,671.55 Mis-sold Endowment Policy, all for OH0 -

Ive looked everywhere but cant find any info on charges for counter fees,,,,,
When the cash machine wasnt working I had to withdraw my money from inside and was charged £3.00 each time,,this was way back ( 2001-2002) when I only had a cashcard for Abbey and had no other way of getting money out, so Ive included these charges ( 32 in total ) with my claim,,,,
Has anyone else been charged for this ?
thanks, susie0 -
I am trying to get £1990 refunded from The Abbey they have refused my original request, and a court hearing date has been set for September 21st. Is it likely for them to actually attend court or will they make an offer , anybody been in a similiar situation with The Abbey ??

I received a "Notice that Aknowledgement of Service has been filed" from Northampton county court this morning, which now gives the Abbey 28 days to file a defence, it has been ticked that they intend to defend all of this claim & is signed by Ronan Coyle who is a Paralegal (?). I hope they do want to defend the full claim, because I'd love to have them disclose the full cost of taking charges from us. Just have to wait now for a court date at Huyton County Court, I've got the bit between my teeth for this one, next is my wife's claim, which has just gone to MCOL, and her's is a larger claim again, nearly £4000. What a good Christmas we're going to have (hee hee)
Good Luck in your fight, and if you need any help or info, just leave a message
:T Keep on fighting
Mollymalone here, I have received in the post this morning an " acknowledgment of service" also from Ronan Coyle , paralegal , they have also said they are going to defend all of this claim. I was just wondering if you had heard anymore?
Can't help with your problems with telephone banking but at the ATM I believe the daily limit is £500?( not 100% sure) but think there may be a limit on amount per transaction, have you tried withdrawing say £200 then £100 then another £100? Hope this helps.
Keep me posted on your progress as it sounds as if we are both at a similar stage with our claims.

Hi Mollymalone,
I've not heard anything else from the Abbey or the courts, so will just have to wait for a response from them, I think you're right it sounds like we're both at the same stage in reclaiming charges, since I started my claim they have taken another £210 in charges for the slightest c*ck up in finances, the wife's getting worried, but I've told her these are the kind of tactics the banks use to try to get you to give up and walk away (not a chance, I've got the bull by the horns now and I'm not letting go). Will keep you posted of any more correspondence from either the court or Shabbey.

You have to set out the timetable, as described in the reclaiming bank charges thread, you dictate to them, they would not wait 8 weeks plus for you to put money into the bank for them to take. Set your time scale & stick to it, take your claim to the next stage, threaten to take them to court, and don't let them fob you off with excuses they are just stalling for time & hoping you'll get fed up and go away.
