• I've been reading back the posts for the last couple of days, and am concerned that I have only entered the most basic claim details via MCOL.

Should I pre-empt any problems by sending the court, and Abbey's Bank Charges Team a comprehensive breakdown of the charges I'm applying for? Can I do this now, and is there any particular Court pro-forma which I need to fill out?

Or should I wait to see what Abbey's defence (if any) will be? They have acknowledged the service of my claim on 20th June 07, and have 28 days to file a defence.

Stick to the particulars of claim as advised on this forum (check Reclaim Bank Charges Help Thread). I am sure you sent a list of charges to the bank before. If they want it again, they will let you know. If the court wants more info, they will let you know too.
Reclaimed thanks to this site:

Hi, I wonder if anyone would help me please? I have looked through all of the info about Abbey on this site and I can't find the answer - I'm probably missing what is staring me in the face - sorry if that is the case.I first wrote to Abbey over 13 weeks ago requesting the statements. They sent the last 6 months worth, then a spreadsheet covering the last two years. They then said that they didn't keep statements, but would send me a list of the transactions on my account - which they did. MY transactions, not theirs. I wrote again, emailed and called - only to have the same thing happen again!I eventually got to speak to a lovely bloke (no, I didn't get his name and I am truly kicking myself) who agreed with me, that I was entitled to know how much the bank had been taking from me, and that he would chase it up for me - that was 3 weeks ago- nothing since.I really haven't got a clue how on earth I go on from here. Please could one of you fabulous people help? I've been a complete fool with money and the claim will be for several thousands !!Many thanks and huge apologies if the answer is already here - I genuinely couldn't see it.Tilly

Hi Tilly if you have the date you spoke to the "helpful" bloke at Abbey then give them a call 0845 724 724. Ask the operator to look up the date and they may be able to tell you who you spoke to.:rotfl:

Need advice, I've pasted a copy of the response I'm going to send to Abbey in reply to the good will gesture speal that it looks like everyones getting, do I need to elaborate or should I just keep is short and to the point?

"Dear Sir / Madam,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Thank you for your letter dated 29 June 2007 and I consider your response to my claim as unsatisfactory. I will, without prejudice, accept the ‘Good will’ payment of £***.** as partial payment towards the original claim of £****.**.

I have included with this letter another schedule detailing the charges that I will be claiming (Less £***.**). If I have not received a satisfactory reply to this letter within 14 days then I will have no option but to pursue my claim via the courts.

Yours......."

All help appreciated!
• We have been trying to claim from the Abbey since February and they have sent the same letters to us, however we are claiming for £18,000 and they have sent us a wonderful offer of £305.00 - what a insult. Needless to say we are now going to the banking ombudsman with a copy of their letter.

Please Help - I sent letter claiming charges and asked Abbey to respond within 14 days. I have received a letter back from Abbey today, saying that they will investigate my claim and get back to me within 4 weeks. What should I do now, do I wait or should I write to them again.

Stick to your timescales not the banks :) Proceed onto the next letter,

Good luck
