Just blown me top! Got a letter back today from Abbey offering me a good will gesture of £285.00 on a claim of over £4500! Am only now starting to get over the initial rage!
Just a couple of questions, first I understand that I need to write back and include the words "without predudice" etc but do I send the letter to the writer of the letter, the original address I wrote to or the complaints dept.?
Write back to the address the letter came from (top right, usually milton keynes) sayin that you will accept the GOGW without predudice and that you will be continuing with your claim for the remainder through the small claims court if necessary.
Also, because of work comitments and other things my timetable has been shot all to hell, will this have any affect if it does go to court?
not at all just continue with the 7,14day deadline
Thanks in advance!

Hi
Been trying to get information on a closed Bank Account with Abbey. I have the sort code and account number and sent off my £10 postal order. Since the account was closed i have moved house and included my new address in the intial letter to the bank. After more than 60 days without a response i phoned Abbey only to be told by a very rude customer service bloke that they would only send information on an account to the registered address for the account. Surely this can't be right and now Abbey have sent finanical information of mine to an address that i no longer live at.
Any advise would be appreciated0 -
its took me since january, but received a cheque for £3000 on wednesday last week, cleared today.
i was fighting for £3302, but wrote to them saying i would settle for £3000.
thanks martin and everyone who gives advice on these threads, its all worth it
i was getting all the letters stating " it will take 4 weeks , blah , blah. but just do as martin says and you will win...:j :money:0 -
Hi All
Thanks for all the help so far. Am claiming about £3000 back from Abbey - have used the template letters and received a letter this week to say they had investigated fully and were offering me a goodwill gesture of £580 which they have put directly into my account today.
All very nice, but nowhere near £3000 - what do i do next; how do I word my letter back to them - is this where I take it to court?
Any help greatly appreciated....

Can anybody help?
i have just received a letter from the Abbey telling me that they have placed £840 in my account as a "good will gesture" this is some £1300 approx short of what i have asked for. I have sent a letter to them telling them that i do not except this as a settlement. They replied telling me that they would look into my complaint and I would here within 40 days.(is this just a stall tactic?)They have allready had a threatening letter to take them to court do I continue with the next stage ?Please help..........

Continue to the next stage send them a letter of refusal to there gesture of goodwill. If you do not have the money to go to court fill in the forms in the financial ombudsman website regarding your complaint. You will have to send them a copy of all letters sent and received. My oh went this way and reclaimed the whole lot back
The bank also gets charged a £400 complaint fee regardless of the out come
