    Hi all,
I thought I would give some hope to those of you reclaiming your bank charges.
With the help of consumeractiongroup I have successfully claimed back 2 years of charges form the Abbey totalling £2200ish!!!
It can be done even with pitfalls and problems. Follow my story on consumeractiongroup Chica V's Abbey.

If you ring 0845 7654321 and select to speak to an advisor, ask for the number of the branch and they'll put you straight through :)

The branch wouldn't give me their direct number though..:o
  • I'm another one who has received only 12 months worth of statements after requesting 6 years worth under the Data Protection Act. I believe my next step should be to write this letter, I was going to reference the actual statements and sheet numbers as they are incomplete (there are a number where I have only received page 1 of 2 for example). Because the 40 days are not up in my case, should I simply request the missing statements and remind them about the Information Commissioner in a registered post letter? I have received no covering letter from Abbey telling me about microfilm problems or delays due to their workload, just one years worth of statements.

    Any information/suggestions will be appreciated.

    TIA.

You must wait for the 40 days limit to finish before you do anything else. Sometimes, statements are arriving in seperate packages. If you don't receive the rest within 40 days, edit the letter you linked to so it suits your circumstance, and send it.

You can send it to your local branch or to their head office:
    ABBEY NATIONAL PLC
    ABBEY NATIONAL HOUSE
    2 TRITON SQUARE
    REGENT'S PLACE
    LONDON
    NW1 3AN

Your local branch will prob send it to head office anyway. Remember send via recorded delivery.
