    Evening all,
Right about three weeks ago i sent a letter to ABBEY saying i would accept £853 of " goodwill gesture " money as part payment only.
I sent the letter by recorded post too, so i know they have recieved it !!
So now it looks like its court action time.
Can anyone suggest which is the best way to do this as i'm not to sure,

also is this an easy step to do ?? I have not a clue, but i am determined to fight for my money even if i lose in court and look like a fool. lol.
any help would be much appreciated.

Forgot to add, do i use my local court or the online court thingy ??

MCOL is the easier option IMO.

    Hi everyone!

Success!!! Taken 7 months but have won back aprox £2200 which is all my money not incl interest. Keep at it!!!
I put in for the court, but emailed to see if there was room for negotiation- and it turns out there was!!! I was happy to settle at this point as to be honest I needed the money as opposed to the hassle!
Am really pleased and it has been worth the hassle, including the 3 months it took to get my bank statements!
I found that when I emailed or spoke to Abbey I was polite and this seemed to get things moving.
Yet to see if they close account or ask for overdraft back........
Keep going everyone! :T  :j

  • I Have Heard Rumours That Anyone Claiming From Abbey Are Having Their Accounts Closed Down? Has Anyone Been Successful In Claiming From Them?

I am curerntly in the process of claimimng from abbey, I've sent my first letter asking for a refund of my charges, but am yet waitng to here from them.
I'm very interested to here if anyone knows if they close your account down. I have a graduate account with an overdraft of £1500 which i often max out but until recently haven't been over it. Would this account be treated differntly as i have an interst free overdraft?
Also i have read somewhere that if you have an overdraft the charges refunded are used to pay back your oerdraft, is this correct as well?

Hi if you read the Reclaimed Bank Charges SUCCESS stories thread at the top of the page their are lots of success stories and many from Abbey customers who have nt had their accounts closed!!

I believe accounts have been closed down but from all different bank accounts and certainly is not always the case! In Martin's step by step guide he talks about setting up a parachute bank account - you may find more help their!!

    Good luck
