at present i am at the second stage. i have sent abbey a letter asking for my money back and i have received the i am sorry letter from abbey, but we need 4 weeks to sort out the complaint. do i give them the 4 weeks?
please help if you can
many thanks kev
Hi Kev you give them 14 days (not 4 weeks) or otherwise you send the next letter (stating you will go to court to get your money) giving them a further 14days otherwise you will start court prceedings
Good luck

hi all first post, have been really messed around by shabbey lately ,have been a customer now for about 10 years ,had some large bank charges a few years ago which resulted in abbey giving us an overdraft so they could collect their charges,we had some more charges applied late last year which my wife got returned goodwill payment, since then they have withdrawn the cheque guarantee card and this week out of the blue have had a letter saying they are not renewing our overdraft and have until july 1st to bring the account to within its new limits or be charged for spending whilst overdrawn.anyhow to the point we have decided to jump on the bandwagon and reclaim our penalties for the last 6 years.heres a couple of questions for starters.
q1,as we have a joint account do we have to claim as a couple or can can i claim for both of us.
q2,where do we send initial letter requesting statements.
q3,how long does the whole process take.
q4,is it wise just to keep a small amount of money in account to cover overdraft interest.0 -

i have sent all correspondance signed by both myself and wife, recorded to our local branch. when you get the sorry your not happy letter its a specialist banking team at a PO box address. you cant get a sig for recorded from a PO box address , so put that address on the letter but send it recorded to your local branch again, they will forward it on.
i got the overdraft withdrawal as of the 1st july letter and im not bothered cos the claim will pay for that easily (thats if they pay in time)
go for it and beat those thieves! good luck0 -
Dear All
Just to let you know Abbey settled my claim last Thursday in full!!!! They phoned to offer me £2,000.00, said No thanks would take my chance in court in June, they offered a little more and said I probably would not get the full amount in court, I said I would take my chance, would only accept the full amount & Costs, they phoned 40 minutes later and offered the full amount £2713.50 & £ 220.00 costs, cheque paid into my account, and they have not closed my account or reduced my overdraft limit!!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl:
Thank you Martin and everyone for your help & guidance!!! Who can I pester now???, quite addictive being a complainer!!!!0 -
Could you clarify please had you filed for a court claim for a date in June already. Apologies if I haven't read your post correctly, getting a bit confused this morning, been reading to many threads !!0
