    hi there missjules
just one question, when you sent the list of charges to your bank how did you sort out the dates when all the bank gave us was the month the charges were taken.this is how i received the statements from the bank.
1- 14 months of statements ----day / month / year
2- 2004 - 2006 a table of charges which only gave the month the charges were removed month / year
3-2002 - 2004 reams of paper with every transaction and every charge but with the correct date day / month /year

have you received a response yet from abbey regarding your missing statements?

Julie ive still recieved nothing! I emailed Abbey at their customer service address today!:(

Did you get your "claiming you money back" letter to Abbey yet? Bet its a small relief finailly getting abit closer to the finish line!!

When you send that letter off do you include the interest % on that letter or only if it gets to court stage?

    Kev,

I received the same as you, but when i wrote and told them I would report them to ICO, i also told them I wanted a list of the dates the charges were taken from my account as their spreadsheet for 2004-2006 only gave the month, and they sent me copies of microfiche from Nov 2000 through to January 2006. so each of the charges now had a correct date of when they took the money and Pam Speed wrote along the lines of "I believe the information previously sent to you was not acceptable, therefore I have enclosed details of the dates " blah blah blah. At least they got something right. My schedule went along the lines of: -

Date Taken From Account Charge Value Reason for Charge

    Hugo,

I cannot believe that Abbey are taking so long with your account when they sorted mine pretty quickly.

I am sending my letter off today to my local branch, so they should receive it tomorrow.

I didnt include interest, as according to the CAG website you are not entitled to it until you issue the claim through the court. either MCOL or a hard copy sent to the court. If you ask for interest straight away, they know you are not entitled to it, and will know that you dont really know much about the law.

I did put all the charges though into the CAG calculator as it adds up the interest they owe you and calculates it on a daily rate until the date of your claim. (Hope in one respect it does get that far, as it is an extra £600 odd so far) hee hee.

Let me know how you get on, as me you and kev seem to be round about the same stage.

i am claiming my money back through money claim today, but does anyone have the abbey address that i need to put under defendents part??
  • Hi, can anyone tell me the general life span from first contact to settling when claiming charges from the Abbey?
To date the process has taken around 9 weeks for Abbey to make an offer of £900 for the £5600 i'm claiming?
Any suggestions? Should I be taking this further (already issued them with the 'taking to court' letter)? Or should I ride it out?

    Any help much appreciated.
    Richard.

Thanks Julie, that sorts out that problem for me because it was confusing me!

They recieved my very 1st letter requesting info on 23RD FEB 07 and its now May! Its really bad!!

Will def let you know how i get on! Its a life saver having this site!! And having you two at near enough the same stage really helps!!

Having the extra £600 would be very nice indeed!

i may have done a silly thing then, because only the month and years was given on the charges table i guessed the date would either be on the 14th/15th of each month, thats the days my charges are usuaully taken.
