Hi all,
I thought i would you all know that i was recently had a few charges amounting to about 70 pounds which consisted of an unauthorised overdraft charge and charge for clearing a direct debit while overdrawn.
I just sent a letter to my local branch requesting for this money back stating the unfairness of the charges and also that this is was my first time and a rarity that it happened and i got it back.
I read about all the problems other abbey people are getting and was surprised i got it back. I got it back after about two weeks in sending the letter.
So no matter how small, ask for it back!

Hi,
I am also STILL waiting for statements for 2001-2003 and have just printed off the Information Commissioner's complaint form and will be getting that postsed off today.
My original letter to Abbey requesting copy of statements was sent on 1/3/07 and despite several chasing phone calls, emails and letters which have all been ignored I am still waiting GRRRRR so time to take action
I also have been unable to get an email through to Pam Speed so if anyone has been successful in either speaking to her or emailing her please could you let me know.
Good luck to all,

Help I'm in panic mode,
I've followed all the directions Martin has given sending letters etc, I have filed a claim in the court against the Abbey National ( 2 accounts ) done seperately, they have now entered a defence denying every allegation stating that my accounts were subject to the applicable terms and conditions, it goes on to list a whole page of conditions, it also says " the defendant will refer at trail to the full conditions etc " I'm worried they will go all the way to court, has anyone else got this far.
In all I have 12 bank/credit card accounts I'm trying to retreave charges on, its turning into a nightmare.

At the moment the banks are doing their best NOT to go to court, whilst simultaneously taking it as far as they can to weed out the weaklings a-la assault course mentality, i.e. make it as hard and as daunting as possibly to weed out anyone who doesn't have the staying power to go the distance.
They must have already saved themselves a fortune by putting off people who have baulked at the very thought of court action.Hamsters have no tact and diplomacy, nor do they want any.0 -

You've misunderstood the interest I think! The interest that Martin suggests you start your claim with is the interest that the court will award to any claim when it reaches the court stage. This could be you claiming £100 from a holiday company and if it reaches the court stage you would be awarded interest on the amount you are claiming. When/if you reach the MCOL stage there is a section where you are asked if you are claiming interest and you would say yes. Have a listen to the audio file which is linked in Martin's article as often listening to that is easier than reading.
In another post(s) I saw that Abbey have asked how interest was worked out, so last thing I need is to get into areas I am unsure about. I used a spreadsheet from a member on the CAG that works out days since charge levied and interest owed. Hope I have explained myself correctly.
Confused Michelle
Also have a read of the post about interest by Rex Mundi in the Reclaim Help Thread which is linked in my signature as this explains the interest you can claim if you can prove that the bank interest was charged due purely to bank charges.
The main thing is if you have included interest in your claim and you receive an offer of the full amount without interest from the bank BEFORE you file at court or online you must accept this offer.0 -

Hi
I've rec'd a list of charges from Abbey today and am writing completing the letter 'asking for my charges back' just a quick question....
the letter asks to enclose a list of charges, i'll obviously photocopy the sheet they sent but since then i've had more charges, how do I list them???
It may sound obvious but I need a little help!0 -
