I started my Abbey Claim for £3,222 in late January. It took them 3 weekes to send 6 years worth of statements and they cashed the cheque for £10!
I immediately used the templates to request my refund and they wrote back stating that they would deal with it within 4 weeks. On the day the 4 weeks was up they wrote saying they needed another 4 weeks to review it.
I wrote stating that if i had no refund within 14 days i would press ahead with the court action. On day 12 £670 was paid into my account and on the following day a letter explaining that was a goodwill gesture and if i did not reply by 8 weeks the matter would now be closed.
I rang to see if i could "negotiate" a better outcome and just got told it could be reviewed again and it would take another 4 weeks! so i said i was not prepared to accept the £670 and would start court proceedings.
They were served on the 28th April and i was quite surprised to see that after 7 days they have acknowledged the claim. I was quite expecting them to take the 14 days. I am now waiting up until the 26th May to see if they enter a defence.
I was hoping somewhere along the line a sensible offer would be made but it looks like at the moment its going all the way which seems silly to be as i would of accepted an offer of £2,500 ish at the beginning but it now looks like it will end up costing them nearer £4,000.0 -
Just a quick note to say I recieved a cheque off the abbey for £4400 the other day. I had to go as far as taking them to court. They didnt respond to the courts letter and after I asked for and won a request for judgement, the Abbey settled after about two weeks.
Good luck to all still in the process, thanks for all the advice and assistance to the website users and the especially the sites owners who got the ball rolling. I'll keep lurking and chip in if I can help anyone.0 -

hi engadine
I am just a few letters behind you,i have just sent off my letter with a list of charges, one list without interest the second list with the interest added on.
What i dont understand is why the abbey is taking the cases as far as they do.Surely it would be quicker and cheaper if they stopped their messing around and just paid up.just hang in there mate.0 -

Hiya everyone
I have got as far now as taking them to court and waiting a court date. I recieved a letter this week saying its being transferred to Manchester County Court. I think they push ppl so far and hope they drop out at last minute because they are worried about taking them to court. To be honest i am worrying about it abit but will carry on and hopefully not long till the £4131 not including charges will be in my new bank account

missjules did you get the rest of your statements today and where do you get the court bundles from'?
hi kev
Sorry havent been on line for a couple of days, yes got them Friday. I will be sending off the letter and charges on tuesday.
The court bundle is from the CAG website in the template Letters Section, it is under basic court bundle.0 -
Well I have to say that this is the forth week coming up since i got my letter ststing that they would need four weeks to investigate. Since that letter another charge has been added to my account. Tried many times to ring them but on hold so long i just gave up trying to get through. Halifax paid up after a total of eight weeks and now im guessing im really going to have to file it on mcol. It's only £715 i'm requesting, thought they may pay the little claims off quicker. Well can only hope!!!!!!!!!!!!!ladyknight:grouphug:0
