is this another scam or could they really help me. I would have to sign somthing so they can talk to my bank for me.
This site has just been set up by another person that has reclaimed their charges. They are not a lawyer, and have no legal background. They are the same as all the other people using this site for free. They will charge you 20% of all the charges you get back. I don't know why you need to do this. In the time it took to type your post. You could have put your details in the first template letter, and put it into an envelope. It would cost you money to do this if you used them. Here, you have all the templates you need, and all the advice you need for free. The whole process start to finish will take you a few hours spread out over a few months. Why not type your letters after the kids have gone to bed, it takes no time at all?
There is a big issue I've got with their website. It is based in the UK, looking for a UK customer base. To apply, you have to fill in name/address/phone number/email address. They do not have a privacy policy. This is breaking the law in the UK (Data Protection Act). This doesn't instill much confidence for them dealing with your claim if they can't even comply with UK law themselves. Your original details are also filled in and sent over a normal (non secure) web page. This screams amateurish, and bad online security practice. Can you guarantee your details are safe with this company? (I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole).
They also don't give a UK postal address, or normal landline number to contact them on. They want from you........... name, address, telephone number, email address, bank, bank account number........and in return, they don't even tell you their address, and only give an 0845 phone number. Highly, highly highly dodgy to let them deal with your financial matters. It looks like they want to cash in on this, but haven't thought out all the legal implications yet.
I'd say do it yourself with help from here, and keep 100% of your money. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Unless you are in arrears, no.b, I have an overdraft of 1k and i'm about £400 over it as we speak !, will/can they call that in, or demand any settlement is offset against it ?
They can close your account and demand repayment of the overdraft, so make plans. If your claim is over £1400, then you could clear your overdraft when they pay up.0 -
Hi Everyone,
My girlfriend has managed to get into a spot of bother with Abbey..
She never gets her statements, despite ringing them each month, so this has come as a bit of a shock. At the end of the day its her fault but it all sprouted from her going 12 pounds over her od limit (350, shes continually offered 1500 but we dont want it).
Anyway, Abbey added 50 of charges in September. When they took them in October it took her over the limit and cost her another 70..
The total charges to date are 270 over 3 months. Shes also been advised there are 240 to go on in January and probably a couple of hundred in Feb / March as a result of Januarys.
I've drafted a letter using the templates but what do we do about the upcoming fees? If I send the letter tomorrow they'll just add more whilst its being processed.
So what do i do? ?
Do i pay her account off to 0 and try and close it? Then pay any other charges that are due at that point and claim for all of them? (Going to cost me about an extra 300). Or do i claim for whats been charged and tell them to swivel for the rest?
Hope soemone can help,
Thanks

Hi
Has anybody had any success with the Abbey? After sending the 2nd letter to them they have said that the charges do not conravene the Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations 1999? Basically they have sent a letter saying that they are not going to pay. Just wondered has anybody had any success with the Abbey, cant see anyone on the success stories thread0 -
Sounds like a pretty standard response to me - probably trying to put you off.. There have been some successes on there - I found a couple yesterday.
I think less people have problems with Abbey so less people need to claim? I got charged a couple of hundred one month but they refunded it all after a phone call so no need for me to put in a claim.0 -
People have claimed successfully from Abbey - check out the consumer action group forums - there's a link on this site somewhere. Here you will see that you really have to stick to your guns, as Abbey will use every stalling tactic known to man and then invent some more!!I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.

Bit of a mistake on my part resulted in a £70 charge by Abbey:mad:
And they took it out on Christmas day!
So... I have written off for it to be repaid. I know its not much compared to a lot of people. But still, £75 is excessive.
I'm really interested in seeing whether I can claim the full amount back!0 -
Hi,
I wonder if someone maybe able to help me ?
I've received my letter from Abbey saying they are reviewing my claim and preparing a response and that a defence will be filed in due course.
They also state that I've provided no details on how the sum was calculated ( plainly obvious that they are the charges they originally applied and supplied to me ) and the interest I've claimed, they want me to show how that amount is made up with reference to each charge ( again the interest was detailed in earlier correspondence )
Are they merely stalling ?
Should I reply in writing and if so ,stating what ?
Or do I ignore it and carry on preparing my case for court ?
Any help or information will be appreciated.0 -
I am about to register with MoneyClaim Online to reclaim £650 from Abbey. In general how long have people found that it takes to receive the money from the time you register your claim to the point the bank concedes and pays up?
Also, once I have completed my online claim and click the all important 'send' button, what happens next? I'm finding it all very daunting. Will Abbey be immediately told that I am pursuing a claim or will the first they hear of it be when I send them the court papers?
Any advice welcome!0 -
Hi,
My husband is about to start reclaiming his charges with Abbey, he had CCJ's in the past (alhtough cleared) and it has been hard to get another account. Finally he has been accepted with Citi Bank, my worry is if Abbey closes his account will this look bad on his credit history?
He is finally starting to build his credit history over the last few years, and the last thing we want is to go back steps!?
Thanks:j BABY A :j0
