After waiting for 16 weeks for abbey to forward me my statements (Iknow it should be only 40 days). They offered me £70 compensation and waived the admin fee! Been through them, sent all the letters and have just this minute done my online small claims bit... Total £2893.73! Couldnt believe it when i added it all up! Will wait to see what happens next. Thanks to everyone here for the invaluable info... Will let you know what happens. T :P0

Forgot to add... I have found it best to set up new accounts and close the existing accounts you have with abbey...0

Hi i have recieved my statements for the last 14 months, and a letter from Abbey saying any previous transactions have been archived onto microfiche and it is not possible to provide a computer print out of this information, however they have made arrangements to send me a list of archived transactions under a seperate cover, could you please let me know what this means and will they charge for a seperate cover. I have sent my £10 for my statements. thanks for any help Diane.0

It just means you will receive the rest of your statements in a seperate bundle not unusual). It wont cost any more money, £10 is the maximum they can charge. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Sent the first letter to abbey requesting details of last 6 years default charges as letter template suggested. I had a reply this morning saying they are unable to supply a list of charges applied to my account for the last six years because they do not store this information separately from other transactional data. They can supply a list of the transactions on my account, which will include any charges applied. They go on to say they have made arrangements to send me the last 14 months of transactions in the form of duplicate statements, but most transactional information between 2000 and 2005 has been archived onto microfiche and there will be a fee of £10 before they will deal with my request. Have other people been charged and is this acceptable? What kind of success have people had with Abbey...I dont find them very helpful and cant imagine them paying up!0

Hi
I have been reading through most of what you all have been saying and have found it a great help.
I am trying to make a claim from Abbey, I sent Martin's 1st and second letters, I had a responce only to the first (my request for the last six years worth of bank charges) same as most i have seen on here " only 14 months worth available the rest on microfish or something like that. Anyway i received the 14 months worth of copy statements, most of which I already had at home and I noticed that some of the duplicate statments they sent me
did NOT show the charges that were on my original statments.
Also a question now:
I have four small children so do not have the time (or peace) to do this on my own, so I found a company online called Claimback that say they do all the work for you (no win no fee) because they QUOTE:
"Because we charge the banks interest at their unarranged borrowing rate on your charges (typically 29%), our fee comes out of the interest, you get all your charges plus a bit extra. As long as the majority of your charges are older than 12 months, it doesn't cost you a penny."
is this another scam or could they really help me. I would have to sign somthing so they can talk to my bank for me.
Any advice would be great.0 -
