For those of you who have helped me so far, i thank you.
i now have the next stage question.
i have received a letter of acknowledgement from the Abbey and their Solicitor has indicated that they intend to defend all of the claim. should i now start to get worried.
cheers

Good evening all,
Today I got a reply to my second letter and I now have £853 in my account.
This is far less than the abbey owe me ( £3068 ). Abbey have offered £853
as a gesture of goodwill !!! I will except this, but I want the rest of my money back too.
What I'd like to ask you all is,
Do I write to the abbey again asking for the rest of the money ?
I'd also like to know if there are any template letters that I can use to help ask for the rest of what they owe me ? ( I've not seen any letters for this )
Or should I start the court action ?
And I'd like to thank everyone who's helped with advice so far. thanks.:T
Well i've tried to get hold of the abbey today by phone, but i'm put on hold for ages and ages. anybody else get the same amount of hassle when trying to phone them ?0 -
nothing to worry about dusty.
I would be very surprised if you do not get an offer letter in the next few days. Most banks use the extra 14 days (before they have to file a defence) to discuss a settlement with you.0 -
Hi All
I am just about to make a claim to Abbey for £1400 but that does not include the interest I was charged each month. Should i have included that figure in my calculations as well? Appreciate your advice.
Gill
You can claim the interest charged on the unautorised overdraft.
i.e. if you have an intrest free overdraft of £100, and you go over this by £5, then you are charged £30 by the bank for the pleasure, you can claim the intrest charged on the £30.
Doesn't seem that this site has a spreadsheet that will calculate this for you, but other bank charges sites do.0 -
why have i got a "report post" sign next to my name?0

Some how or other this thread has ended up in the Benefits Board, I'll need to wait until I can get someone online to shift it back to the Reclaim Bank Charges board. Sorry!0

Hi everyone,
Yesterday the abbey put £853 of the £3068 they owe into my bank account,
followed by a letter stating it was given back to me as a " gesture of goodwill " !!
I'm not to sure how to reply to this.
I would like to get the rest of what they owe me back too.
I can't seem to find a letter template to reply to this, bassicly stating i'd except this as part of the payment and would like the full amount back.
Anybody know whats the best thing to do.
i'm hoping to get a letter in the post in the morning.
thanks for any help.0 -
