Apologies if this is not in the right section....
I will soon be taking back possession of a flat which has been rented out to tenants for 5 years. Recent inspection has told me that it is filthy, especially the kitchen.
Can anyone recommend a really effective cleaner to remove layers of grease from kitchen cupboards? I have used soda crystals in the past and I know decorators use sugar soap...are these the best options?
I have ordered Oven Mate for the cooker hob and oven....is this the best option?
    Thanks in advance

tbh I have always found cif cream VERY good for this (honestly) and less harmful to the skin than sugar soap. I don't buy cif itself, but supermarket's own. :money:

this is DD3.....I learned a long time ago with DD1 and DD2 that ironing their own clothes and deliberately burning/melting them was a sure fire way to get out of it and eventually get new clothes into the bargain under the banner of "whoops" - while I muttered to myself scrubbing the base of my iron to remove various polyester composites

Hi Dusty (and Bonnie), one of the special 10 still here!

 to Rowan Tree, Dusty and Bonnie. Hi, I'm still here too, but I've been busy with other things again this week and most of the flying has taken a back seat.

The hall, stairs and landing are finished at last and looking very good, and I have carried on S&S'ing and decluttering elsewhere. I can see a wide expanse of carpet in my study, and my desk has been cleared of everything that is not currently being worked on. Like you, Jo and Honey Bear, I find it too easy to let piles of papers build up and overwhelm me!:o

Last weekend I put a lot of stuff on eB@y and am delighted that about a third of it has sold - some for silly prices! Two of the three bee skeps have gone; only the small one is left - that alone has created a big space in the study. :T

I have a pile of 10 empty large plastic crates that I'd like to rehome, but DH says that he'll make room for them in the garage (where exactly?) so that we can keep them until we move house.
We're not planning to move for a while, though :D

Hope everyone has a good weekend. (((Hugs))) all round.

Ah.. that is where you went wrong.. they destroy it, they do without.. and they don't get new replacement stuff.. AND they clean the iron too... It becomes a futile exercise as they are the ones that lose out.

I am obviously hardcore mean lol.

I did my nanna's ironing from being about 11.. she would give me £1 and I saved it to buy sanitary towels :p My dad didn't allow me to have such luxuries!

Evening! Pizza decluttered, and a lovely chat with friends. Her dh stayed in too, which was v nice as he was a good friend of my dh, so we all had a really good (but not sad) chat about him. Dh and friend used to play Xbox live (even though we are neighbours) online, and he told me tonight that he doesn't play anymore, as he just used to sit waiting fr dh to log on, bless him. Reminded me that it's not just me who misses him. If that makes sense. Anyway, had a lovely evening, and we've made plans to catch up with the kids too at half term...

    Bedtime I think!

I have always been bad cop, with ex MIL playing good cop behind closed doors...if I said no, she would tell them to ignore it and would get it for them anyway, way beyond what I would pay which would then fuel situation further:mad:

very true pigpen...DD1 just packed off to Uni, but when she is out of sorts who does she want to Skype at 2am? Mum's always sleep with one eye and one ear open and ready to jump into action at a moments notice -and they know that they can't get that kind of deal anywhere else:p

Found this to be very effective against grease, costs £1.00 a bottle some supermarkets.
