Aggghhhhggggh. DH been in sandy places. Not due back until 1st week in November. Just phoned to say he's being medivacced out. (Needle stick injury) House is a sty. Glad to get him back, although a complete waste of the sexy underwear I'd bought for his welcome back. 3 months of waiting to find out. I could just cry.
Sorry to hear that, cat. Hope all will be well. Waiting that long for test results is horrid.
Hope the egg'n'chips tasted good, LameWolf! I had a boiled egg for lunch - DH is enjoying himself at a model railway show this afternoon, and was going to do a couple of errands on the way there.
Anyone care to join me in a HHC from 3.00? I need to race through the rest of my list - I won't manage it in just one HHC, but I will need a break before I tackle the kitchen! Must bake some cakes for a charity stall tomorrow (and maybe one for us too).0 -

I will soon be taking back possession of a flat which has been rented out to tenants for 5 years. Recent inspection has told me that it is filthy, especially the kitchen.
Can anyone recommend a really effective cleaner to remove layers of grease from kitchen cupboards? I have used soda crystals in the past and I know decorators use sugar soap...are these the best options?
I have ordered Oven Mate for the cooker hob and oven....is this the best option?
Thanks in advance
I moved into a hovel of a rented flat earlier this year and the landlord hadnt been as considerate as you, and I had to clean it myself!
I found Stardrops and a paint/wallpaper scraper worked the best. My cupboards were just flat surfaces, plastic coated type... I appreciate if yours are better quality, this may not work!
Stardrops is very very soapy, so you dont need too much and I just washed them all with a scourer. I then went over with the scraper to take off the rest. On the really tough bits, I wiped some on neat, then left it and scraped it off with the scraper.

I've mentioned this before, so apologies to anyone who's heard this tale, but one of my friends was once really horrified to hear I didn't iron my undies! I told her my knickers would fall down in shock if they saw an iron!! And they would!!!
Good luck with your flying and congratulations on the expected baby, R x
Ditto!
I also had a friend once who was shocked I didnt iron everything, including knickers... I told her there wasnt enough material in my knickers to iron... She opened her mouth and quickly closed it again, cos there wasnt really anything she could saycatslovelycats wrote: »Hi everyone. Haven't quite got the hang of all these lists people are making.
Hey Cats, dont worry about it too much.... Firstly, Well done you for getting on top of things...focus the next couple of weeks on keeping it that way until it all becomes part of your routine and you do all the jobs without to much time and effort...
After your into the swing of it, go round the whole house with a pen and a piece of paper, and make a list of all the things in each room you want to sort /move /clear out /fix /mend /change /decorate... etc etc. And your frog list will be born....
As the main list wont take up too much time, you will have a few minutes here and there so start on something from your own list... Inevitably, you will end up adding things to it before you can score everything off...
Anyway.... I have done LOADS...- more boxes emptied,
- WM and TD going like nobodys business,
- dishes done,
- child fed and fed again,
- karate,
- studying
- a few more things flung
Ive almost found my kitchen so should be able to get the stuff photographed for Gumtree:T

OK. Flying manically resumed. 2 toilets de-yucked. Next is kitchen, DW, and WM in overdrive. Why do I turn into a slob when he's away? I'm virtually OCD when he's here.GC Mar 13 £47.36/£1500

It didn't feel like I was achieving much at the time, but in my HHC (which extended to 3QHC) I
- emptied all the bins and washed them
- cleared draining boards and filled DW
- brought in the green and brown bins from outside the gate where they had been standing all week (normally DH's job but he didn't see them, I suppose- and I needed the green bin)
- brought a frost-tender plant indoor before I lose it
- printed out labels for remaining eB@y items sold today
- S&S'd 2 bathrooms
- tidied our bedroom
- put clean sheets and pillowcases on spare beds - have left double duvet until DH comes home because it hurts my back to do it alone
- checked size of our smallest suitcase to ensure that it counts as hand luggage for our next holiday
- dusted all upstairs, HSL (new banisters collect more dust than the old rails did!) and DR
- decluttered utility room and study
It looks much better when it's all written down!
After this quick break I will try to
- dust rest of downstairs
- hoover upstairs, stairs and downstairs
- S&S downstairs WC
- mop kitchen floor
- make cakes
- make marmalade
- print off flyers for tomorrow
- finish work started yesterday and email it to my colleague
- cook meal
then at 6.30 I will collapse in a heap in front of the TV to watch Strictly!
Back to flying now... lots to do in 2 hours0 -
Inspired by Ionafan's proposed baking session, I am halfway through making chelsea buns for first time ever. My question flyladies is this: When they are ready, can I freeze them or do I have to eat all 10 in one session (please bear in mind that I'm already on my 3rd iced finger of the day)?Spend less now, work less later.0

 Hi Jazee
I have no experience of feezing Chelsea buns (they don't last long enough inthis house!) but a quick Google produces two answers that might help you:
Re: uncooked dough (but I expect you're past that stage by now
http://en.allexperts.com/q/Bread-Pastries-746/2011/7/freezing-chelsea-buns-etc.htm
>Chelsea dough is very much like brioche. So...if it were I, I would make the dough, and before it's allowed to proof...freeze it. You can freeze it in small sections to pull out only what you intend to bake. When you're ready, pull it out, slice them, let them proof and bake. This way you will have pre-made, but fresh baked. You can refrigerate the dough for a couple days or freeze up to a month.
Re: cooked buns

>Prepare ahead: The buns can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat before serving.
>Freezing Information: Freeze baked buns up to 1 month.
HTH
Did you make the iced fingers as well?
I am gasping for a :coffee: but I'll finish hoovering the sitting room and study first.0 -
Thanks Ionfan. They're not cooked yet, I'm about to put the butter and fruit on them. But think I will cook the lot and then freeze, and then just reheat individually as I want one. They won't last a month though. And no, I didn't make the iced fingers. They were a treat with the weekly shop along with the family sized bag of wine gums (still in the cupboard).
Sweet tooth. Me? Noooo!!!Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Thanks xxjoxx.for explainngg the frogs to me. Mmm. I' goinv to have loads!:-)0
