Summer01 - this has nothing to do with AppleTV. It's for people who want to connect their Sky+HD box to their broadband connection, but can't or won't use an ethernet cable. They can get lots of on demand content (in line with their Sky subscription), as well as ITV player, and soon, iPlayer.
When Sky On Demand (Anytime) first launched, it was on Sky Broadband only, but has now been opened up to any BB provider. A 2mb connection is fine, you just ask for the programme and it downloads. If you had a faster connection, you could start watching straight away, but you'd just have to wait longer on that connection.
There is NO need for this adaptor if you can get a network cable from your Sky box to your router, which will be more reliable. Also I couldn't find any specifications whether this is an 'N' WiFi device - if it's only 'G' it could slow your whole wireless network down...

There is one circumstance they will refuse t sync a card to a box.....if the box has been reported as stolen

If the box is currently synced up to an active customers box they may query it but worst case, the person who sold it would have to call and say they were no longer using the box

  • I can't believe my luck - have been meaning to get round to sort this out for our tv and now find this post, saving me £££'s.
    Thanks very very much.
Just before I place the order can you tell me does my internet connection have to be be quite fast, as we suffer from the dreaded buffering just to watch 'you tube' most of the time?
(hope I haven't hijacked the post!)
    thanking you in advance
  • Thank you! I've been after this for ages, but really didn't want to spend £60 on it. :) excellent find!
    Trying hard to money save....
  • Does anyone know if it's possible to buy two of these? It would be quite nice to have one at home but this would also make a great Christmas gift for my partner's parents (his dad mentioned wanting one but wasn't willing to pay £60...they're away for the next couple of months so won't be around to take advantage of the offer themselves).
Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!

Thank you, my broadband box is not very near my TV so this could be useful. I originally thought about getting it for my another room but the Sky box in there isn't Sky+ and it's not multiroom so that wont work probably.

Yes you can buy more than one. Your parents would have to call up and have the service added to their account so it would work, but that only takes minutes.
It's not an offer from sky..that's the cost of the connectors now. They're not going back up to £60.

    I ordered two yesterday :)

I have a thompson sky+ box so from what i gather it's not compatable plus my broadband is only around 2Mb speed otherwise i would've considered the wireless offer at £9-99.

It's worth calling up about your Thomson box as you may be eligible to have it swapped. There are certain issues with some boxes and if you qualify then Sky will swap it FREE for an HD Sky+ so you'll be compatible for On demand and you won't need to take out the HD subscription.:T

I have just set the Sky on demand service up, when you select a programme it starts to download and appears in the planner alongside all of your recorded items.

On a fast connection it is ready to view straight away, on a slower connection there might be a delay but if you fully downloaded the show will play without buffering.
