  • But I work for the bank where I have my current account and am bothered that it won't go down too well! Has anyone else out there claimed back as an employee or heard of anyone doing it!

Hi there I am trying to make a claim with the Halifax and they have so far explained it is not unlawful blah blah.. and they are trying to direct me to contact the Personal Customer Complaints dept. Should I now write to them with my threat of cout action or should I continue to try to claim through my branch?

Also the 2nd template letter asks you to name the court that you will be using, do I have to find a local court or is this where I would name Money Claim online as my choice.

    Hope you can help

    Thanks

hi helen i got the same response from the halifax last week, i have not bothered to ring customer services as they will simply only reiterate what the letter means, i have sent another letter to my local branch again to inform them of my notice to start court proceedings, and i have put the county curt of my home town in my letter even though i will be using moneyclaim. good luck.

There have been a couple of users who have said they work for a bank but I wouldn't expect them to disclose this incase someone they work with reads MSE.
  • Thanks Edinburghlass, that link told me everything I needed to know-including the situation regarding the cheque issue. Cheers, you're a star :)

Before i send a letter asking for details of my closed accounts, should i put a time limit to reply, and What?
  • No, they have 40 days to provide the information anyway.
  • Having decided to take on Halifax, i sent the prelim letter. I never had a reply so sent in the LBA. Once more - no reply. It seems its time to send to court but i am worried. Why have they not replied? Am i the only person they have not replied to?
I sent the letters to Trinity Road, Halifax...
  • Hello,

I’m hoping someone can give me some help and advice please.

I used to have an account with RBOS (I say used to… and I’ll explain why) A few years ago I had to move out of a shared flat and find a place of my own. This resulted in me becoming seriously short of money and I started to struggle paying back a bank loan as well as receiving numerous charges for being overdrawn all the time.

I called the bank several times to explain my situation (most of the time in tears!) but received no help and ended up having my account closed and debtor letters sent to my house every week.

Four years on though and I’m now getting back on my feet. I have a debt management company dealing with my finances and I’m starting to see the light again, albeit only slightly!

I know that the majority of the charges were down to me not having enough money but I was wondering if I should write to RBOS and ask for them to be paid back? Do you think this will fuel their fire and have them chasing me even harder for the loan repayments? Should I suggest they wipe my debt to save me from claiming the charges back? I know the amount I’m owed would be in the thousands….

    What do you think?

I also need a parachute account (Claiming 1200 from HSBC), and although I have no debt (other than a 1250 overdraft)have a disastrous credit rating & am recently unemployed so no monthly money coming in at the moment. Any Suggestions? Even of a savings type account that I can deposit a few pounds & have a cash card? Especially one I can register online.(I have some savings abroad I can deposit).

    Many many thanks
    Hiya
Don't know if you had a reply as just going thru the tread and come across your entry, I was advised and have opened an account with Nationwide, it's called a cashbuilder account and only lets you put money in and withdraw at a cashpoint or over the counter. It has no facilities for overdrafts, direct debits, standing orders etc not even a cheque book and cheque card, so you can only get out what you put in therfore no debt... not online though.....
  • Youcrazyboy - Bank of Scotland Halifax do an 'easy cash' account which you can register online (I have one) However, most of these types of account will require you to confirm your ID by either taking certain documents to a local branch or sending it to them. The info required would be a utility bill and a passport or driving licence - which shouldn't be too much of a problem for any UK resident!
