If you ask for copy statements the banks can and will charge you for this information. What you are asking for is all information held on you under DPA. Check the letter (ask for charge details) in the link below and then either phone them back or send the letter with your cheque for £10.

thanks for that.no i havent i was just generally wondering wether this was how it worked-so say you have a harge for £12 you ask for the £12 back and not just part of it as surely they can lawfully charge you something?this is where im getting confused!0 -
Hi all, I've just filled in the interst calculator after receiving 6 years worth of bank statements, I've printed it and am now using the letter template for the next step. Now this may sound a daft question but, do I send this second letter to the same address as the 1st (the 1st letter being sent to the Data Protection Manager)? or should I send this one to my local branch or even to the banks' Customer relations?
Help please!!!0 -
Your local branch will do, they will pass to the appropriate department.0

Hi this is my first post and I am about to start the process of claiming my charges back from HSBC. Can you tell me where I should send the first letter to for my statements as I read in the forum that it is the 2nd letter that should go to the branch. I have been so inspired by everyones posts, I can't wait to get started. Our losses caused us such a lot of heartaches at a time when we really could have done without it.0

Do Barclays close accounts after payout? Do banks/credit cards payout should the claim be for a reasonable amount e.g. under £1,000?

If we're reclaiming for ALL default charges including interest, surley that excludes a charge from the bank? They do have a right to charge us being overdrawn right, even if it is £0.01p?0
