  • I am helping my son reclaim bank charges from Royal Bank of Scotland, sent all template letters, he got a reply yesterday, he is claiming £3000 (without interest) and they have offered him £1676 as a "gesture of goodwill" he has decided not to accept, is there a template letter to cover this:confused: also, we live in Scotland so should he contact Ombudsman first or contact bank????
  • Hi guys,

about 3 weeks ago i sent for charges infomation with a cheque for the correct amount. Last week a received a letter asking for the £10 charge to request information. I already send this and it has not been cashed. I guess i will have to send another but recorded delivery this time. Has this happened to anyone else? Maybe this is another delay tactic the banks are using.

hi i wonder if any1 can help me...i wassuccessful in getting my charges back from halifax...well sort of. i agreed an amount of 2,000 over the phone, and then had a letter sent confirming that amount. they said in the letter the money will be in my account WITHIN THE NEXT 14 DAYS. well its been 14 days and still nothing....so i rang them and they said that the money will be there within the next 14 BANK DAYS! it seems to me that they are just delaying things again.
i took the halifax to court and they agreed to settle and said they would pay me within 5 working days. they didn't, so i made a complete pest of myself for the next two days. i was polite, pleasent and very very firm about what would happen if i had no payment very very soon. you need to phone them on monday and say that another 14 days is not acceptable and you WILL go to court to get the money. if you can, speake to the customer relations manager Mr Jim Kerr. i found him resonable to deal with and he can hurry the cashiers along too!!

    Halifax PLC

    £215 charges
    £70 intrest

I went through all the stages,1st and second letter then took it to mcol just checked my account this morning and all the money i was asking for has been deposited in my account minus 2 weeks interest, However,i amstill down on the £30 it cost me to start the claim with mcol, should i ask for this back in a seperate letter to halifax or should i let the claim continue with mcol and then let them deal with the whole problem( the extra interest and the £30 for mcol?)
the cost of ging to the small claims court will/should be refunded to you by the defendant. the bank. lol.

Just a quick update to my earlier post re: allocation fee. Although AQ dispensed with and I made call to my local county court to ask about the fee - was told no fee payable as hearing date already allocated - have received a note from the court to say allocation fee of 100 is payable. I rang them to say confused about this and they said it is up to judge whether allocation fee still payable and our local court judge has decided it is! Just a warning to others who think they may not have to pay - check with the local court. Does anyone know if allocation fee can be claimed back - I dont think it can but wondered if anyone at the same stage? JG
Nat West - MCOL March - FatWest defended - hearing date 4 July - 2300 claimed and still having charges put onto account!!

HSBC - sent 14 day - still waiting for reply. MCOL by end of week - claiming 795 - eventually paid out £560.

Halifax - sent for statements Feb - cheque cashed - nothing received - reported to FSA - paid up almost amount claimed before official complaint registered with FSA
