I am writing to you as a last resort feeling that, although on-going, it seems my husband and I have exhausted the formal complaint procedure with Natwest in as much as they have failed to satisfactorily address any of our concerns during the process. Contrary to finding resolution, their actions throughout our complaint have escalated our distress, impacted adversely on our financial situation and has interrupted our work and well being. I will try to give you a brief overview and would welcome your consideration of this matter.
I would just like to say how sorry I feel for you - I had problems with Natwest a number of years ago when my ex-partner emptied our bank account and left the country. Natwest couldn't have been less sympathetic if they had tried. I got into deeper and deeper debt because they kept bouncing direct debits and standing orders willy nilly..... and this was because they refused to extend my overdraft.
Good luck with your claim - please let us know how it progresses. It's about time we all stood up and said enough is enough.0 -
hi
just been in touch with the Natwest and they are advising that the refund will go into closed bank account due to outstanding loan by my partner they are now trying to say that i am liable for this even though my partner had the loan before i met him!!!
So out of the £2800 they have offered we will receive £448, has anyone else come up against this?
I refused it and advised them that i will take them to court
Can anyone advise!!!!!!!!0 -
I have received a letter from the court saying the claim is transferred to the Mercantile Court and also any parties wishing to have the order set aside, varied or stayed must send in the application with the appropriate fee. What does this mean and do I need to do anything? I have read about this somewhere but cant find it.0

I wrote to the Halifax with Martin's first template letter requesting statements on 25th April including a postal order for £10, I sent it to my local branch. On 27th April a cheque for £10 was deposited to my account, so I rung the bank and asked where it had come from as I hadn't put it in there, they told me that my local branch had paid it in but couldn't tell me where it come from, they would have to request a copy of it which would cost me £5. I told them that I'd sent a £10 postal order 2 days earlier to the branch which was made out to Halifax PLC with a letter requesting statements and could this be the £10 that was credited to my account either in error or refunded as a fee for this wasn't required? They said that if it was made out to the Halifax then it wouldn't be able to be credited to my account and they had no record of my letter requesting statements on the system.
I then said that I will go to the royal mail and ask for a copy of the signature as I'd sent my letter and postal order recorded. She then said to me, oh tell you what, I'll order a copy of the cheque and let you know where it come from and waive the fee, oh and I'll put in a request for 6 years worth of statements and waive the fee for that too (ummmm....I've already paid £10?!), you'll have them within 3 weeks. :rotfl: I'm not gonna hold my breath but maybe getting slightly closer!

I have just received my 2nd letter from Lloyds/TSB offering me £750.00 in full and final settlement with no further discussion with them to take place.
I have calculated they have charged me the following:
£602.00 Unpaid D/D charges
£1,531.66 O/D Interest Charges
£1,360.00 O/D Excess Fees
am I right when I read in the article that out of the three charges I am legally right in claiming the Unpaid D/D and the O/D Excess fee but not the O/D interest charge and if so I do not think £750.00 is reasonable
Any views

After writing to the first direct re charges of £1,300 we were offered £1,150 which we accepted.
We have now sent 3 letters to Natwest and this morning received a letter from them offering £2,800 less the £300 interest which we are going to accept, but that account was closed last year and they have said on the offer that they will pay it into the closed account!!!! What use is that?
Does anyone know can we say we want it paid into another account or want it in a cheque???
Natwest paid me out after just one letter. However, i was angry how long they then seemed to be taking to pay out. But it turned out that the money had been put in a closed account within days. They had re-opened the account, and not bothered to tell me.
It seems that they are using this as a chance to get customers back, unlike most banks, which are throwing people out. Why don't you put a note in, when you accept their offer, asking for cheque or bank transfer?
Can i ask how long Natwest took to make an offer. I am now handling my friends claim, and its not going as easy as my claim. I have just sent a second letter, after waiting 3 weeks from the first.0 -

That was another stange thing.
I expected Natwest to pay the money into my business acount, which was £1500 overdrawn. I am paying at an agreed monthly rate, and i have interest added quarterly.
Yet my £3000 was paid into my closed personal account.0 -
