hi, sent letter to halifax bank asking for charges back on the 30th april (sent it recorded),still not had a reply. as this happened to anyone else
You'll find the links to all the main banks in the Reclaim Help Thread which is linked in my signature.
I asked this ? yesterday but didnt get a response . is it as simple as writing letters and waiting for responses from banks or is there more to it than letter writing.
You'll also find a basic start guide in the Reclaim Help Thread to follow.0 -
thanks for that edinburghlass, just looked at that thread just noticed that halifax have changed postcode, i used hx1 2br now its hx12rg. will it make any difference0
-
I wouldn't worry about that, I think the postman will still be able to find them with their sack of letters
I just changed the postcode yesterday so there will be a lot of letters out there with the original postcode on it.0 -

To any users who haven't had an answer to their question on the old discussion thread please feel free to place it here and hopefully someone will have an answer for you.
If you want to ask a question about a specific bank please check the boards to see if you can find a dedicated thread to your bank and pop your question on there.
Don't forget to put your Success story on this thread when you complete your claim and good luck.
I am thinking of reclaiming bank charges, but I closed the bank account because of an overdraft I coudnt pay, they put the debt to an agency. I am under a DM company and dare'nt claim incase they retaliate, and do something legal to me such as secure the debt on my property
Thanks0 -
I had a response today from Lloyds TSB. However as it was after the 14 days I have already sent another. They are claiming that these are account charges for a service I agreed to which made me laugh as one of them was for a £120 returned DD. They also stated that I might be worried that this would effect my credit score.
I'm expecting to take them to court.0 -

the number of my claim. The Court said they had a backlog.I would appreciate advice from other people who have issued Warrants of Execution to be similry met with silence or success.
How much are the balifs, and do we get it back.
Martins advice has been great so far, but it stops at the warrant stage, and leaves us without a clue.
Anyone know another site, which contains the extra help needed?0 -
i have successfully claimed bank charges from the norwich & peterborough bs and they duly closed the account on the 19 april.I transfered to the abbey and everything seemed fine.i have received a letter from the n & p today saying that a payment has been made on the visa debit card that went with the account.in order to do this they reopened the account and payed the claimant £17.99 thus putting the account into the red ! on speaking to them they say that because it was a visa debit card they have to pay it.my arguement was that the visa debit card must surely be cancelled on closure of the account and they cannot just reopen an account when it suits them.i cannot go on line and view the account so how can they open it willy nilly!! does any one know the legalities of this and should i take it to the ombudsman?
Hi Leaky,
Congrats on getting your dosh back.
I don't see how they can close an account & then re-open it to suit themselves.
Have you got any letters stating that the account was closed on the 19th April.
Also was it a Direct Debit or standing order that was claimed by the visa card?, they usually contact you to tell you that they had been unable to get the money from the account & they will try again in a few days time to give you time to ensure funds are available to pay them.
I personally would complain to their complaints dept. stating that you will be going to the ombudsman if they don't repay the amount back into the account & waiver any charges they have imposed as the account was closed.
Contact the visa card & stop anymore payments to them from that account.
Good luck.

I started to fill out the warrant stage by mistake, but when i got to the stage about how much you were issuing the warrant for, i'm sure the cost was about £35.00, which i think is added onto the total being claimed back.

Hi All,
as a guide, how long after judgement is issued to you give the banks to pay upbefore starting the "Warrant" stage?
I'm now waiting for my cash after entering judgment on the 1st May.
How good i felt when filling in that section on MCOL:T
