Hi,
I am in the process of claiming back my charges from HSBC, I have total charges of £897.
Today is the two week deadline from when I sent my intitial claim and I received a letter from HSBC on Saturday saying they are looking into the matter and will contact me with a full response as soon as they have completed the investigations. They have given me no indication of when they will be in touch again - how long should I wait before contacting them again?
Additionally, since sending the letter I have received further charges of £103 for going overdrawn in March - how do i go about claiming this back on top of the intitial claim?
Should I send a letter acknowledging their letter but saying my claim has now increased by £103? So my total claim is now £1000?
Any help gratefully received!0 -

I got exactly the same letter from HSBC. I sent a letter back stating they have a further 14days to refund my charges or I will proceed with the claim in court without any further warnings. (there should be a template letter on the site)
The did not get back to me so im onto the court bit.0 -

Tell them your claim is for £900 and that is the amount you expect to receive. Failing which you will proceed to courtThe Winner Takes it All0 -
(sorry everyone I previoudly posted this on the wrong thread) sorry
Firstly thanks Edinlass for your link to CAG and the Financial Omb - As Im in Scotland and my claim is over £5,000 Im asking them to look in to it, however I just want to make sire Im doing all I can and that Im up to scratch wity my knowledge on this situation.
Can you help me please the story so far......I have written the first letter to RBOS ( I have 2 accounts 1 interest paying 1 just a cash account) asking for details of all the charges in the past 6 years. They have sent me 6 years worth of statements. In the past I have had some refunded and am a bit confused when tallying it all up. I also have a combined over draught on the 2 accounts of £4,500. (I'm hoping to clear this with the refunded charges and hopefully have a little extra so I can get rebuild my credit rating again - I have truly learnt my lesson... pay all bills on time)!
I am in the process of setting up a parachute account.
How do I go forward now? How to I total the interest? Will it be the collective amount of the 2 charges + interest or do you calculate interest from the date they money was taken? If its the later I'm going to be mighty confused. Also is there much chance of me getting any interest if Im going through th Financial Omb?
Should i just leave it to the financial Omb? I feel really lazy doing that and out the loop
Also are the bank leaving it to me to total all the charges - what if I get the figure wrong - will this affect my claim/stall the process?
I look forward to chatting to you all if I've done this properly x x x x

p.s. i dont know how you thank a thread ? sorry - thanks0 -
Have a read of the Reclaim Help Thread which is linked in my signature for the charges you can claim and a basic start guide. You need to input each charge into the Interest Calculator along with the date to get the correct interest. The bank will check your calculations and let you know if they think you are claiming something that you shouldn't.
Start off your claim including the interest by sending off the intital letter and if no reply then you can threaten to take them to court. Should you still get no reply then pass it over to the FO but as the interest is something that the court add to your claim you won't get any interest going via the FO.
Although the limit in Scotland is 5 years, start your claim for 6 years.0 -

I think we would have more success dealing with Mickey Mouse than this lot.
Nevertheless, write to them demanding the latest charges back and stating they you do not give them permission to apply illegal charges to your account. The Winner Takes it All0 -

When I write to the bank do I have to detail every individual charge + interest? and break it down that way? if so they better get ready to recieve a NOVEL from me
thank you
