Hi all, I have a prblem with Nat West. I stopped using my account with them as charges were more than I was earning. This was four or five years ago and the account was about £700 overdrawn. Nat West are now wanting to take me to court for aprox £4000, This made up from interest. The bank have not sent me any statements over the years or tried to contact me in any way until now with the threat of court action. I have asked for details of the charges on my account for the last six years since October (this year)
My question is if I claim the charges back this would have left the account in credit can the interest be dropped? Many thanks in advance ;-)0 -
Bart - this is curious. My husband and I have a limited company account with Nat West that we stopped using in 1995 for the same reason. Have heard nothing for six years and the interest is not doubt continuing to mount. I wonder if there is a case for time lapsing and the debt not being valid anymore? Hopefully Louloujs...Lou0

You can claim back the interest if you start a claim against them (some of it anyway)
I really would give it ago - you have nothing to lose, just lots of money to gain, and theres not much better than that!!
Go over to https://www.consumeractiongroup.com and click on bank action group, go to the FAQ and you'll see everything you need to know - good luck!
theres a link at the top of this page for an interest calculator so have a look how much it all comes to!0 -

It took me approx 2 months in total to get the money returned (for my OH) including all the necessary letters etc.. (it was exactly 1 month after filing on MCOL when they offered the full amount)
It's definitely worth doing. :TDisclaimer: Any spelling mistakes or incorrect grammar is purely coincidental and in no way reflects the intelligence of the author.0 -
