polo01 wrote:Hi Can someone advice on what to do next,
Posted letter to lloydstsb demanding refund charges or will issue court action after 7 days..
sent letter asking for refund in first instance, they replyed they would not refund the charges , as they believe they are fair to charge them in the first place.
not heard from them in last 10 days, should I send another final letter asking for refund or procced with court action?..
Go on with the next step if you haven't heard back from them in the time scale you gave them.0 -
A question on reclaiming charges.
Am I entitled to reclaim the interest paid on these charges? (i.e. say charged £30 on 25th of month which would have taken me either into or over my overdraft limit, not paid until 30th of month, therefore i have incurred interest at whatever the rate is for 5 days on this charge) I know this is going to be small beer but it all adds up.

Afternoon to all, I have wrote to both HSBC and Halifax,
HSBC have not even achnowledged my first letter.
Halifax replied to be with an achnowledgement letter within a week, recieved a call yesterday offering 15% of the charges back to me, said no straight away, then offered me 20%, then 25% and then eventually just over 30% back, So I said no to all the offers and then said that I will settle for 75%, got him then upto about 37% and he said he can go no further and will write me a letter with an offer... will wait and see what is offered.... and then update this log... at least we are getting somewhere, will send out the 2nd letter to HSBC this week and see what that does.......0 -
smashedbooboo wrote:Hi all again. well starting the process with RBS and Halifax
and capitol one. have read enough on here now to give me the confidence. I know i said it last week but been scared to death to do anything about it. Think i have plucked up the courage now. Thanks to all and to martin. Will keep you posted. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I have an RBS account, I've just read the article on how to go about it, and I'm definitely going for it. I'm very daunted by it though, as I've never had a good rapport with the bank over their charges on me over the years, so I'm just waiting on a chequebook so that I can send them the 1st letter and a tenner to get the fees.
Keep me posted of your progress!0 -

Hello
Just recieved a letter regarding my request for statements, it says please quote your MIB reference number. In the original letter I just quoted the account number. Is the MIB number the long number on the card?
cheers for any help

linziloo wrote:Can anyone give me some advice? Ive just wrote to my bank, Natwest, asking for a copy of my charges for the last 6 years and sent a cheque for £10. I have received a reply today stating that it is not a service that the bank provides and i could request a copy of each statement for £5 each. I have read somewhere that they must provide a copy of these charges due to DPA. I never got my cheque for £10 back either!!
Thanks Lindsey
Did you make it clear that the £10 was for a "Subject Access Request" rather than a request for duplicate statements? (Technically they do not need to supply copies of your statements, just any data relating to your account. In practise they often send statements as this is easiest for them)
If not, send another letter stating this and remind them that under the DPA they have only 40 days to respond. And this 40 days should date from your original request.
Edit: Oops sorry Edinburghlass, didn't notice you'd already replied to this!Any advice I give is based purely on personal experience. I am NOT a professional or expert in any field except insect genetics!! So be warned!

How long have you been a member of the "Men In Black"? And surely data such as your MIB reference number is a matter of International security??:D
In truth I have no idea ,although a quick Google turned up " Midwest Independent Bank" which I assume is NOT what you want. You might need to contact them to clarify their jargon.Any advice I give is based purely on personal experience. I am NOT a professional or expert in any field except insect genetics!! So be warned!

Yes you can claim the interest on these charges. There are spreadsheets around which will calculate the interest paid if you need them (not sure if Martin has got some on this site, but if not PM me for a copy)Any advice I give is based purely on personal experience.
