    Hi All
I sent letter 1 from the templates to the halifax requesting 6 years statments on 03/03/07 on the 18/03/07 they cashed the cheque, goody i thought things are moving alone quicker tha expected, However 23/04/07 still no statments phoned the bank who denied having recieve the letter(this was recorded mail and signed for by the bank), I pointed out they had signed for the letter and they still denied getting it I then played my trump card :D
    me:
"but you cashed the cheque and the letter was in the same envolope"

    bank clerk :
" oh erm let me check.........erm well, yes the cheque was cashed ..... erm.....no request has been placed on the account for this information, i'll place a request now"

    me:
"can i expect the statments next week then?"

    bank clerk:
" no it will take another 40 days from today"
after reading her the riot act i advised her i would not wait another 40 days and told her i would be sending another letter to the bank demanding this info in 7 days and a copy of the letters to the information commisioner.
has anyone else had this problem with halifax or any other bank

Yes and so many that there is an entire thread here dedicated to the types of problems unfortunately :(

    Hi all,
This is my first post on MSE and i hope I have put it in the right place! I work for LLoyds TSB so hopefully I will be able to help you guys out with questions and such. My question is, does anyone know what happens if you try to reclaim your bank charges but you work for the company? I think they only owe me around £550 but to me that is an awful lot of money that I would like back. I dont have a clue what the implications of this would be for me if I go ahead with the claim but if they close my account I will lose my job as my wages have to be paid into a lloyds TSB account. I know banks are !!!!!! but i am a student as well so I need this job. Does anyone have any advice for me?

  • This, I think, is a serious problem and I would really like some advice from anyone who has some legal know-how.

I claimed £1384 from Nationwide on behalf of my son and made a claim on MCOL. The day before their 28 days was up I received a letter from Nationwide stating that they were refunding MY charges to me and had paid £155 into my account! I checked and they had and there was £184.48 to follow to cover costs and interest. They had even enclosed a charges summary headed with my account number. All of this was very nice for me, but had nothing to do with my son's claim, and the bizarre thing was that I had not made a claim for charges! I rang Nationwide and explained the situation and thanked them for my charges. Now it turns out that, having taken advice from their legal team, they are about to take away the £340.48 they have given me (on the grounds that I did not claim the charges, even though the money is mine). They are going to look at my son's claim. Today I received court papers headed "Notice of Defence that Amount Claimed Has Been Paid" In it they claim that they have refunded all charges debited to the Claimant's account..... The finish by saying"No further sums are due from the Defendant to the Claimant". This has been signed by their In-house Solicitor. Seems to me that they could be in serious trouble for this....does anyone have any ideas please?

Hi there,i sent of my first letter on the 20th march,i had a letter from barclays saying we will be sending your statements in the next few weeks, with out charge!
i have still had nothing from them:mad  ,what should i do know????
i am really worried i may miss the boat!!
  • I have gone through the first few stages of reclaiming my charges and it's gotten to the point where they (Lloyds T.S.B) sent me a letter saying, we are sorry that you are not happy with the charges, but we do make charges for extra services when customer don't have enough in their accounts to cover extra work-and it has to happen very quickly.
I returned a letter roughly a week ago saying that i'm not happy with the response you have given me, and i am prepared to take this to court if you do not give me a satisfactory decision.
All they have done after i asked for a reply within 14 days is send me the same letter again.
What do you all think i should do?
Send the same letter again threatening courtaction ?
Or is there another route to take?
I really could do with so help on this one......Plz reply if posible i'll love you forever.

    Hi Matthew
The letter they have sent you is a pretty standard reply. Just follow Martin's Step-by Step Guide to Reclaiming Charges....it takes the pain out of doing this. Good luck.

[Can somebody please remind me, where do I send the letter with the figures I am claiming.

I have received a reply from one of the companies with copies of the statement - Capital One - thank you very much and no charge - what a result. Suspect that was the easy part though.

DO I send it to the branch of the banks or the main office?

Put In a claim for myself with interest £276 and my husband with interest £1128.59. Will keep you posted!!!!!!!!!1

    Thanks

hi Martin / whoever can help!
i received lloyds tsb statement entries back today and have been looking through them to try and calculate charges to move to the next step but it has confused me with how they have classed things i.e i asked for my unlawful penalty charges - they have sent me back 20 pages spanning over 6 years which contain - account fees which i think i cant claim for??
Also overdraft interest classed as charges, and overdraft excess fee why have they sent me these are they what i need and if so in specific which ones can i claim for beacause their terms dont tally with yours this is how they have presented them to me

    10/06/2002 CHG O/DRAFT INTEREST £12.50DR
    10/06/2002 FEE ACCOUNT CHARGE £4.00DR
    09/07/2002 CHG O/DRAFT INTEREST £12.44DR
    09/09/2002 CHG O/DRAFT EXCESS FEE £20.00DR
    THE LIST CONT...

OF WHICH OF THESE CAN I CLAIM BACK OR CAN I CLAIM ALL OF THEM I AM CONFUSED!!!!

Hi Everyone Im A Newbie Need Some Help Please!!!! Has Anyone Had Dealings With Ulster Bank Northern Ireland? They Don't Seem To Be Playing Ball With Anyone. Have Any Cases Gone All The Way To Court? If So Wot Was The Outcome?

    Please Please Please Help Me:

Hello Titch, I am dealing with the Ulster Bank. So far I have sent my letter off requesting a refund of my charges. They sent me one back today nicely telling me that I wasn't getting them. After looking around I found out that they will start settling when they recieve court papers. I also found that someone got a refund through the ombudsman. I have just sent my complaint to the Ombudsman today with a copy of every thing. Failing this I am going to take it to court. I will let you know the outcome.
