I sought £2188.88 from Bank of Scotland and they have written offering £1327 as a goodwill gesture acknowledging no liability and stating that thereafter I will not be able to claim further charges from them.
Should I stick to my guns or accept their offer?
I also have a current complaint against the Lloyds TSB [ £1756] who basically told me to shove off which has really annoyed me so I'll be taking it all the way with them. Their attitude was outrageous in customer relations terms. They will pay for their arrogant dismissal, literally. :mad:0 -
Hi there
I sent this letter to Halifax and Abbey customer complaints department then read on here that I should have sent it to my local branch.
Does anyone know if this will be a problem?
Thanks

Would like to know if anyone has been successful in reclaiming charges from Yorkshire Bank.....They replied to first letter stating the charges complied with banking code, and Im now about to send second letter. In the meantime they have withdrawn my overdraft and are still applying charges and are threatening to "freeze" my account!!!!! Im claiming approx 1200 pounds from them!!!0

hi, can anyone advise me? i have a capital one credit card - limit £200, which due to having a baby just before xmas and previous ill health, i let slide and balance is now £450 as a result of charges. however, i had to pay a £200 deposit when i opened the card, surely they should have used that instead of slapping more and more charges on? as i am in the process of claiming back from nationwide, is there anything i can do about these charges? have ntoiced that the charges are at the lower amount of £12, so not sure if it is possible to claim anything! just recently paid off £80 of card, thinking that it would go someway to clear the overlimit amount, but am shocked when i received a letter this morning stating what balance is.0

I have had two of my cases transferred to the County Court in Cardiff who are dealing with all bank charges claims in South Wales. I rang today to check
on progress after the transfer, apparently a Circuit Judge not a District Judge
has been appointed which has put the fear of God into the Banks when they see the name on the Court papers. Recently over 85% of claims were settled
before going before the Circuit Judge, obviously there are still 15% stubborn
Banks out there who fancy chancing their arm.0 -
My claim against the First Trust is for £1951 and with the interest of £ 702 would take it over the Small Claims £2000 band. Can i ask for the full amount of £2653 now and reduce it to the charges only if i need to bring it to court or do i have to decide on charges only and carry the £1951 from start to finish? Thanks.0

Madelaine from Halifax Credit Cards has just 'informed' me that I have to write a cheque for £5 for my first 5 statements and then 5 pounds for each additional statement up to a maximum of £100.
I of course am aware that the legal charge is £10 but I was wondering what to do about it? I hope people arent coughing up £100.0 -
anyone? please0

Am claiming for around £2000 from HSBC. Eventually claimed through MCOL, and recieved a letter today which is a NOtice of Transfer of Proceedings, basically saying that the claim is being transferred to my local county court.
Next is a court order from Northampton (the original court) dated 10/4/07, which states that the district judge has ordered 'the filing of an allocation questionnaire be dispensed with in this case unless the District Judge at the court of transfer orders otherwise'
Does this mean my local court will subsequently send me a questionaire????
And, HSBCs defence basically states:
1- Terms and conditions apply to the account
2 - HSBC is therefore entitled to charge for services as per price list, including an 'overdraft review fee' (????)
3 - HSBC denies charges are 'penalties' under common law or unfair contract terms under UTCCRs
4 - The charges are reasonable and fully disclosed in publshed price list and are contractually agreed prices, and the charges are not default charges and cannot amount to a penalty
5 - HSBC reckon I am a liar
Anything to worry about here??? I am dying to get to court, I tell you. I love court hearings and proceedings, and have about 12 years experience of criminal court proceedings and giving evidence.
So, do I have to do anything, or just sit and wait? What is the tactic of the bank at this stage? Is it to see if I'll bottle out?0 -
Cheers for that, i was wondering if i could challenge the bank the same way as i am with my charges, thing is if i get my charges back, i'll pay the loan off, but should i pay the interest? Its nice to be important.........but more important to be nice
