Does anyone know how you can obtain an account number from halifax after it has been closed so I can claim charges from them0
-
Hi all,
I am looking for some help today; I have received a letter regarding my bank charges which says that i should hear back before the 1st may. I sent the 2nd letter to them saying i would be taking court action within 14 days which runs out on Thursday.
I am not too sure if i am cutting my noise to spite my face, Correct me if i am wrong but if we go to court then in Scotland you can receive a maximum of £750, But my charges amount to alot more than that.
Can anyone advise me what is the best thing to do ???
Cheers

Yes - these still count as penalty charges so can be claimed.0

write to them with your full name, address, and date of birth and they should be able to locate your account0

I am also in the process in claiming for closed accounts also.
When you write to them give them as much information as you can such as full name (and any other names you may have had during the life of the account), all addresses, date of birth.
Also, if you have access to your credit report, it will tell you on there the dates the account was started and settled whcih should also help them to locate it.
Good luck0 -
Hi there, I had followed the guide and asked for my bank statements for the last 5 years, my bank only sent me 1 years worth of statements so i used them plus a few older ones i found and sent off a claim for the money.
Now, two weeks later i got a letter from ABBEY letting me know they have sent the statements that were available and will be pulling the rest from their archive system and will forward them soon.
Will i be able to claim a second time for all the charges that were not on my first claim?
Or have i blown it?
Thanks in advance,

I have just received an offer from Barclays of £1495.00 (requested £2,240.00). I called and they are unable to negotiate over the phone (unlike Halifax which did with both my Mum and my sister favourably and in just 2 wks from begining to end). I replied in writing and requested the full amount informing them since my iniial claim in January I have incurred a further £200+ but am willing to settle for the original amount requested (£2240.00). I received another letter refusing to pay anymore than the original offer. So now I have two choices 1) take the offer and reclaim feb/Mar and April or 2) take em to court!!!
I have registered my online court for £8,000 with Natwest and waited with baited breath for them to respond with 14 day - which unfortunately they did (was hoping for a win by default). Natwest claim they are going to put in a defence and now I have a further 28 days from point of service. That should take me up to the end of April ish as not sure what date the point of service was......
In the mean time my friend has just receieved a rather cheeky (if not insulting!!) offer from Abbey National of £180.00 for a requested £1700 - she called and refused the offer and now it is to be passed to ''stage 2''. They have already deposited the money into her bank without informing her!0 -
Hi
I am sending off my request to natwest for statements in conjunction with charges and I am a bit concerned with regard to the forth coming court case with Natwest and the barrister on Friday 13th April 2007. As my initial letter will be a request in finding the owed amount it is not a demand. I am apprehensive that if the court case goes in the banks favour I wouldnt have lodged a formal demand before Friday. Can anyone help or throw light on this?

Hi, just wondering if anyone can give me some advice. I am trying to claim back charges from Natwest (2 accounts). I have sent the first letter asking for charges to be paid back, and their 14 days is now up. I was going to send the LBA, but I thought I'd just ring them and ask if they'd received my letter, just out of interest. The woman, who was talking from the loans department, said that there were two notes on my account, one saying 'offer of 281, letter to follow' and the other 'offer of 598, letter to follow'. These are the amounts I asked for for each account (less interest, but I know I'm not entitled to this unless it gets to court). The lady said that since they have a large backlog, it could be 2 or 3 weeks 'till I'd receive the letters.
Now, my confusion is, do I trust this, and wait and not send off the second letter (LBA), or are they just trying to put me off, and should I send the LBA?
Hope this makes sense! Thanksmuch work to be done - new sig coming soon...0
