There is no need to give them extra days, its 14 calender days for the letters.

Yes it is 14 calendar days, however due to EASTER I would allow a few more days for a response. If the banks sent an offer in the post on Thursday, you will not receive this until Tuesday which is 5 calendar days which substancially eats into the 14 days given.

My advice is not to be too rash as you could shoot yourselves in the foot and for what?? Be patient and if the 14 days is already up, see what Tuesday or Wednesday brings in the post. If nothing, send your next letter or file court action.

    Good luck everyone

Hi there, yes she can still claim on a closed account going back 6 years just the same as an open account. Good luck!
  • Quick question. I'm currently living abroad (in Japan) and am interested in reclaiming the money. However obviously I couldnt get back to England for a potential court date. I return in September - is there anyway to do it from overseas? Or could I attempt to reclaim the initial money and then delay threatening the court date? Or should I just wait til I get home to do the entire thing? I'm concerned if I waited the banks may have come up with a defence so would like to try. Thankyou for any advice!!

You can either get someone(family member) to represent you by writing to the bank/court or wait till september and do the process yourself.

  • Bank ... Yorkshire
    Amount claiming ... £ 2500

    The Story so far.

At the begining of the year followed the advise on the web site and received no response what so ever from the bank. Again following the advise, paid my £120 and put my case into the hands of the county court. I then received a letter from the bank explaining that they were sticking by their original stance in a previous letter ( which I never received ) and because I have posted a claim with the county court will only communicate via their legal department. According to a letter I received from the court they had until April 5th to respond, I have received nothing and to my knowledge neither has the court.
My concern with this is that although I used the Yorkshire Bank head office in Leeds as the address of the bank when submitting my claim, they are owned by the Clydesdale bank who are situated in Glasgow and according to the county court, they have no jurisdiction in Scotland if I win my case.

    hi all
my partner had a letter this morning from halifax with regard to her request for £2109.00 to be repaid. the letter says that they have 40 days to respond to complaints blah blah blah..... So i am in the process of writing a letter saying this is not a complint - merely a request to have her money. Is this right ?? also, all she uses this account for is for child benefit and tax credit to be paid.... but they still are taking their charges out when they feel like... am i right or not but i was led to believe that it was illegal for them to take benefits from your account in this way.... if this is the case could someone please point me in the way of what the actual wording for this is.... i will put this in her letter also..... this may jee them up....
if anybody can advise us anything, we would be most grateful.
also chasing natwest for £2500, £1150 and just short of £900 for three accounts. just sent first letters on these recorded delivery. wish me luck. what are other people dealings or feelings with natwest??
    cheers

    Hi

On page 257 - post #5138 has a quote about the illegality of taking benefits. I have just used it in my letter to the bank.
