when claiming bank charges back do you claim the £10 statement charge as well ? or is this being to cheeky
Don't think so no. That's a fee they're legally allowed to charge you under the Data Protection Act for access to the information.

Your branch address is normally at the top of your statements or on your cheque book.

I don't think writing to your local branch would help, that's why I was asking what address you should write to, but thanks for the suggestion.

If Easter has impeded on your letter then I personally would allow a couple more days. If in the worst case senario you actually go to court, the judge would look favourably on you for doing this.

    Hi everyone..
received 4 and a hlf years of statements today..without the missing 18 months, my charges already amount to 8000 pound..cannot believe that!!
i have noticed that i have been charged a 'REFERRAL FEE' of 75 pounds a month aswell as returned cheques..unpaid direct debits etc..does anybody know what a referrel fee is and can i claim it back??
i rang natwest today and they basically told me that once i send my 1st letter off they would have an offer to me within 48 hours..sounds too easy doesnt it??
they have give me RBS head office to send my letter off to..do any natwest customers know if this is correct cos last week they give me a totally different head office address??
    sorry to go on..
    many thanks

Haven't had a reply from them so I am sending them an adapted version of Martins 3rd letter to threaten court action. So, hopefully they will reply within 14 days of this letter.

Have had a positive reply. Yippee!!!
    Letter reads as follows:

"Thankyou for your letter dated 30th March regarding the fees posted to your agreement.

We have conducted a review of your account. The total amount of charges posted is £275. It has been established that although the charges were added within the terms and conditions of the agreement we have on this occasion decided to reverse the posting and fully waive the fees. You have not been charged interest on any fees and therefore any interest charge refund to which you refer is not allowable. Therefore, the balance on your account has been reduced by £275.

We hope you find the above satisfactory."

I've not got the 8% interest but nevermind, as I didn't outlay the money in the first place, I can't complain.

I'm very happy to have the account balance reduced.
  • Can anyone tell me please, why`total charges` can be claimed on HSBC personal accounts and NOT HSBC business ??...

Maybe for the fact you have a loan with them may keep the a/c open. If they close the a/c you can contact A&L to give them your new banking details to set up the d/d, assuming you have opened a parashute a/c.

    Taff ;)
