My 40 day responce period is up today and I have not recieved my statements or list of charges.
I have two questions
1) is the 40 day period 40 straight days or 40 working days
2) Barclays sent me a letter saying they had recieved my letter and i would hear from them shortly (they even sent the cheque back)
TIA paul0 -
I am in the processing of claiming £529 in charges from Halifax. My first letter was sent on 11th March. No reply. My 2nd letter was sent 30th March. No reply. In the mean time, Halifax continue to apply charges on things like standing orders that I cancelled in early March.
My branch manager has told em that someone in head office is dealing with my complaint and yet I have received nothing in writing to acknowledge my letters.
How do I deal with these people if, when I call them, all they say is for me to pay the difference between the balance and the agreed overdraft, which is currently £568.00. When I write to them, as I've done twice, they ignore me.

all i can say andy is halifax are being either usless or crafty
by your first letter i assume its the letter for requesting a payback on your charges as you seem to have a total of charges accumalated.
what did and im with halifax is to send any letter by recorded delivery
hand one into branch by hand and try and build a rapport with employee at branch which i did and shes really helpful with chasing things up
even fax them its costs next to nothing
try ringing halifax direct
post any halifax posts on the halifax merged seection of forum which is dedicated to Halifax only you may find an answer on there as well
as far as i can tell halifax are trying everything in the boook to stall, remember you are the one claiming so therefore you are the setting the rules and timescales. Most of these template letters set a time limit period to banks to act within if they exceed the time limit carry on to next stage otherwise you will not get anywhere. So if letter states 14 days they have 14 days and no more, dont let them take control its your money and your claim. You never see Halifax messing about they are straight to the point when it suits them and theyll pursue until they get what they want.
I suggest you post on halifax merged section on chat forums and read thru that it may answer your questions it did with me as i am on with threatening court action if i do not hear a satisfactory response within the 14 days. I count 14 days including weekends so on 15 th April if i havent heard anything im on with next stage.
Dont give up andy and dont be taken for a fool you may get a 8 weeks to investigate letter like i did but that isnt good enough so i continued with process.
You will get there in the end and dont be scared many people have claimed even off halifax so you go for it and good luck m8 with your claim:EasterBun0 -

Send out your next letter on day 15 from when you sent your first one.0 -
Mornin' all!
After the hassle I had with my HBOS branch messing me about with my statement request for charges over last 6 years, it's taken less than a week to get them sent to me from the local processsing centre after an absolute gem of a girl on the telephone pushed my request on. I'm now ready to send in my claim for unfair bank charges to Halifax/Bank of Scotland, but not through the branch. Can anyone give me the address to send them to?
Thanks in advance.
HAVE A HAPPY CHOCOLATEY EASTER:cool:
