On a abbey statement can i claim for cleard transaction it dont say on the list of things which u can and can not claim for
  • Hi to anyone online.

Back in 2003 had about 4 credit cards on the go due to split from my ex-partner. While I was waiting for the CSA to get their act together, things got bad for a while and started to make late payments. Thought I had kept all the statements but, I had a clear out last year.Do I trust the Credit Card companies as to the charges I received or do I have to tell them what I have worked out?

Also, is it the same process to get copies of past credit card statements as it is for bank statements (really annoyed with myself for not keeping them now, as I normally do for years) I think all but one I have the account numbers, will the one I can't remember still supply me with past statements without an account number. I want to check all charges made to me.
  • I contacted barclays on the 5th of march to claim what they owed me i received a letter on the 4th april promising to repay my charges of £1400 hope this helps you.
  • Am I on the right thread for a reply, regarding claiming late payment charges back?

I currently have 3 claims with MCOL all filed on 23/3/07 one with Nat West for my bank account (£576.09incl interest), then Nat West for credit card (£360.13incl interest) and finally MBNA for credit card (£55.38incl interest). The 2 with Nat West I have received acknowledgement of service advising they wish to defend, so am hoping they do not put in a defence (fingers crossed, eh!!). Finally MBNA have sent me a letter dated 30/3/07 stating how they clearly set out their charges in the agreement i signed and how they do not agree with OFT's interpretation of the law, etc, etc, etc, and how as a goodwill payment they are sending me £30 in the next 10 days on the basis that this is full and final settlement of the complaint. Now I know I am only claiming £55.38 including interest but then there is the additional £30 in court fees so I would like to continue with the claim, but do I need to advise them either in writing or by telephone that I do not accept or merely wait until the 14 days are up to claim by default because these dates seem to coincide with each other? Can someone give me some advice please?

    Thanks Liz xx
Nat West Bank - Reclaiming £576.09 (15 days into MCOL with acknowlegment received)
Nat West Credit Card - Reclaiming £360.13 (15 days into MCOL with acknowlegment received)
MBNA - Reclaimed £55.38 paid in full after 14 days of filing claim with MCOL
Alliance & Leicester (mortgage exit fee) Reclaimed - £295 paid £210 after 12 days of one phone call

I wouldnt advise trusting the companies concerned. I asked Capital One for details and received a letter listing charges that was blatantly incomplete. I've now demanded the full list with evidence (statements at their cost if neccessary) and I am waiting for it. It is the same process to request your details as with the banks. You will need evidence of the charges made anyway if your case gets as far as court stage for your claim. Send the template letter requesting details under the DPA and enclosing the £10 payment. Capital One dont charge if that helps.

The one you dont have the account number for, write and give them your full name and addresses with postcode as well as any change of name or address for the life of the card and your date of birth. Date card acquired/closed would be helpful too. Good luck :)

You are at court with MBNA so you are now entitled to claim interest. I would write, recorded delivery of course, and advise that you will accept the £30 as partial settlement without prejudice and that court claim is already in progress for the remainder. Just keeps everything nice and tidy and they cant say you settled in full :)
