I have used all the standard form letters offered on this fabulous site and now have received a second response from Barclays, offering to settle my claim of £4,660 for a "good faith" offer of £1,980. They claim all charges are standard, and published, and they are sorry I am unhappy with the historic charges. I can get a refund applied to the account within 7 days if I settle. They also give me the phone number for the complaints manager.
This offer has come in 10 days after my second letter asking for a response within 14 days.
I am clearly inclined not to settle, as the offer is less than 50%, and to take them to court. Any suggestions?
Only other possibility I suppose is to try their complaints manager phone number and see if that has an effect....
I advise you definately dont settle as if you take it to court you will be eligible for the full amount. Stick with it!!!0 -

My advice would be start the court process rolling, I have just had second letter which was the same as the first one they sent saying they were looking in to my complaint. However it sounds as though you have had a better response and they are willing to pay, take it all the way.0 -

Does anyone know which is the address for natwest creditcards or do I use the address in Edinburgh the same as the bank account.
Also do I also use the same address for Natwest business accounts as natwest personal accounts.
halifax requested refund 30/03/07 ( no letter received as yet)
barclaycard requesting charges list 30/03/07 (they received letter 02/04)
halifax CC requesting charges list 30/03/07 (they received letter 02/04)
Natwest requesting charges list 30/03/07 (they received letter 02/04)My Mission today is to have an opinion on everything.
If you don't like it well you will just have to lump it!0 -
My advice is a flat out NO.
Do Not put this onto a loan of any sort. You have already stated that the reclamation of charges will more than cover the remaining overdraft and leave you with money over. There is no sense whatsoever to agree to a loan to cover these charges in the meantime. Carry on paying the £50 per month - think of it as a savings plan. The more you pay in the agreement already in place the more you will eventually have left over after reclaiming.
Ok, thanks. Because the £50 arrangement comes to an end 18th April I'm a bit concerned they'll say put it on a loan or pay the full amount back. Can they do that?0 -
I wrote to co-op asking for 6 years details of a closed account giving the usual details for tracing purposes. I experienced a bit of to-ing and fro-ing with the staff member dealing with it 'being out of the office' twice but didnt mind so much since they had plenty of time in the 40 days to complete the task. Today after a reminder email that they have 12 days to complete the task I have received reply that they are unable to trace through archived records without an account number.
I smell the proverbial bull but I am stumped as how to counter this. Any advice please ?0
