I am claiming about £1100 from Abbey.
I wrote to them on March 8, and received a standard acknowledgement letter a week later. To date, I have heard nothing, apart from receiving 14 duplicate statements in the post yesterday (I did not request these, as I have all my statements). Wonder if they make a charge for this?
I am of the opinion that this 'response' from Abbey is unacceptable, so I would like to know am I justified in taking matters to the next step, namely sending the letter which threatens instigating Legal Proceedings?
I'm definitely up for the fight, but don't want to get things out of proportion. Any suggestions as to my next course of action?
(Abbey staff need not reply, thanks all the same)
Thanks

did they give you a date they would acknowledge your claim by? or did the letter just say the have acknowledged your letter?
I would stick to the guidelines as its 14 days from when you posted the list of charges to them..or you can ring them ..might make them speed up a little..
worth a try... maybe a nice person will be able to offer you an amount over the phone..ask to speak to a complaints manager not a divvy in the call centre!
good luck!0 -
i think ( in England) you can claim up to £5000 in the small claims court, before interest is added ..e.g. if you claim £5000 plus £1500 interest ,total claim £6500, do the small claims thing ,anything over 5k before interest is a different story0

Can anone of you clever people help me with this. Long post but once you have read it you will understand.
Sent first letter to Marbles asking for money back with list of charges.
Had letter back today stating charges are fair etc etc.
However it also says, and I quote:-
"The OFT has recently published the findings from its enquiry into default charges on credit cards.HFC has carefully considered the OFT's publication and does not accept its findings. However the OFTs investigation has led to a change in market practices and HFC has therefore decided for commercial reasons and in the interests of customers, to reduce its credit card charges for the future. These changes do not affect charges that have already been applied. Accordingly I regret that we are not prepared to make any refund of default charges or provide any compension payments".
Now is this a stalling tactic, them thinking I'll go away. - has anyone else had the same response from Marbles (HFC) and ended up getting there money back?
Letter 2 was due to go out next week - do i send it or go straight to MCOL?
Any advice would be appreciated.0 -
:wall:Hi, I hope somebody will be able to assist me.
I just wanted to know if I would be able to claim back late payment charges from an internet account like JD Williams ie NOT A BANK ACCOUNT.
Just wanted to add that this is a great site and in a conversation with a bank yesterday they treated me with a bit more respect :rotfl: when I could have an intelligent discussion about the best ISA's, credit cards rates... The guy gave up trying to sell unnecessary things to me.:T
Hi I think that I will be able to claim my charges, as I am receiving a financial service and they are penalising my for not paying on time, but can somebody please confirm this for me?
Thanks,0 -
I need help please.
I wrote to Lloyds the money grabbing bar stewards, asking for my charges to be repaid. They have responded today with a letter to say they are looking into my complaint and expect to contact me with their decision within the next four weeks or eight weeks (they cant seem to make up their mind).
Do I proceed with my follow up letter or wait the time scale they have given me?
Waiting in anticipation to any reponses.0
