    Hi all

I followed the guidance on this site and got very worried when Barclays acknowledged my MCOL claim and stated that they would defend the claim in full (that just bought them some extra time).

I now have a letter in front of me today making an initial offer of £1080 "without any admission of liability... with the cost and inconvenience inherent in a further duspute in mind and is intended as a gesture of goodwill" against a claim of £1440. I will reject this and am certain they will settle at the claim figure.

Just stick to the guidance and it clearly works.

    Good luck.

    hi there,

phone them if you feel okay doing this but confirm anything said in writing and get the name of person you speak to.
The advice on this site is always to stick to your own timetable not theirs.
Read through other posts and success stories and you will feel more confident about continuing your claim.
My opinion is they will just keep dragging things on/delaying if they can.

hi just been on the phone to abbey the lady said she appreciates my timescale but its not long enough for them to deal with it. Its not actually being dealt with yet but its on a pile ready to be dealt with. asked to speak to a manager she refused me twice and i told her i was entitled to speak to one. she went away and and said nobody was availiable and she would email her manager for call back and may take 48 hours for them to call me back. i then told her i was sending them a letter to threaten court proceedings if not dealt with within 14 days. she then answered very sarcastically "well you do that!" i will be sending them my letter today. extremely wound up and unhappy with the way i was spoken to!!!!!
  • Hi,

I have received 2 letters now from American Express and Halifax (Credit Cards) syaing that it was in the t&c's when i signed the agreement. On both occassions they are not saying it is unlawful. American Express charged me a % each month I did not pay them or a d/d failed, approx £283 per month charges.

Do i progress now to the 14 day letter then the court action?

The banks have been a lot easier than the credit card companies.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Rgds

    AGGGGHHHHHH Help !!

I recieved an offer from my bank First Direct for all but 80.00 of my claim which was for 2544.66, which is great, BUT I sent the acceptance form back to them over a week ago, and have heard nothing, I have phoned the bank several times, and just keep getting fugded off, they said they cant put me through to the legal department as they dont have a phone number for them  ! I am getting extremely frustrated with them, my allocation questionaire is due back to the courts next monday with a further 100.00, and I am a bit unsure what to do next, do I give the bank untill Thursday and then send the allocation questionarie off, and can I then claim back the extra 100 ? bearing in mind that I have signed the acceptance form ? And any ideas on me bugging the bank any more than I am already doing, ( 2 or more phone calls a day )

Any help greatly appreciated and sorry for long post :D

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
I've sent off first draft letter and had my statements sent to me. Halifax returned my cheque to me with a letter saying there would be no charge for the information I requested. Yipee. I have gone through said statements and want to claim £1,100 back from Halifax. Second draft says to enclose a list of charges, do I just type out dates and amounts from statements for this? Sorry if I sound a bit thick but I feel really clueless about it all. Any help would be appreciated.
There's no place like home :)

Feeling down? Weak in body? Makes no difference to me, I think of you all when I'm sitting quietly.

Hugs and healing thoughts are always going your way.

Hi when I was at this stage I used martins Bank charges interest calculator, on the main page, and typed all of my charges in there and printed it off and sent it with my letter. Hope this helps
