Am i right in believing that the banks dont actually have to pay the interest unless it goes to court and that if they offer you the full amount then you should take it as they have offered what you asked.
If this is the case, is it not sad that they have not realised that it is cheaper to settle in full and save the interest, court fees and manpower it takes to take you to the court steps.
The cost of manpower alone could bankrupt them, for example if it cost £35 to send an automated letter for you going overdrawn, how much does it cost them to open the envelopes, log the letters and send a reply to us all,
im just glad im not paying for it LOL

    Hello.
I now have my statements and most of the charges are pretty clear. I checked the can claim/ can't claim page and pretty much think the end of month charge relates to overdraft management fee... or something like that. But it varies month to month from £9 when the account wasn't overdrawn to £40. Should I assume that these are legitimate charges and not include them in my claim?
Many thanks for any help. This site has really been fantastic.
:j Proud to be dealing with my debts:j

    Hiya

I've sent my request for my statements yesterday to Nationwide, so fingers crossed.

I've needed some encouragement to even write the letter and its thanks to you guys who help each other.

I'd just like to say thanks to you all as i've been reading through the last couple of days to get the courage and you've certainly done that. I've been struggling for years thanks to charges so it would be wonderful if I could actually have something to save.

Keep up the great work everyone, it warms my heart knowing there are great people out there .... somewhere xxxxxxx

It varies month to month as it is charged as a percentage of whatever you went overdrawn to. Seems to be a service fee to me and not reclaimable
  • Just about to mail my second letter off to the Abbey for £1,800 ...fingers crossed,
    cheers
