  • Hi all, My first time on here also!
I sent my first letter to Lloyds two weeks ago 8th March. Had a reply today 23rd March saying:
I am just writing to let you know that we have received your complaint - and to say how sorry i am to learn that you feel you have cause to complain.

Please get in touch if we've misunderstood your concerns or if you have some more information you want us to have. If we dont hear back from you in the next couple of days, we will carry on with our investigation using the information you've already provided.

we expect our enquiries to be completed within the next two weeks but we will try to get our response to you sooner if we can. If there's a delay, we will let you know why and we'll give you an idea of when you can expect to receive a full response to your complaint. I hope we can sort things out for you.

Does anyone think i should give them the time or press on with writing them a second letter? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers, Jim.

    Hi Jim

No always stick to your own timescales on this matter - not theirs. They would have you waiting for months if they thought they could get away with it!

Just carry on to the next letter ;)

Theyre snowed under by the looks of it but that isnt your problem :) You could allow them a day or two to receive this letter but it is unlikely to contain an offer in full settlement.

To work out your charges & interest go to the main article here :

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/viewnews.cgi?newsid1141050760,24632,

Scroll down the page to step 2 and there is the interest calculator there. Just type in the amount and date of the charge and click calculate. You can add them to a list that will tot them up to the right and when its done click on 'print'. This will open up the list in another window and from there I used my browser to edit/select all and then copied and pasted that info into a text document on my computer. From there its easy fiddle around and present the list neatly for printing off.

    Good luck :)

Thanks for your advise yesterday Twinkly you were spot on about the letter, I sent off the LBA today for £1333.75 including interest. Now its time to wait again.
Once again thanks for all your help and hopefully soon I will be posting on the success page:)

Everyone is entitled to refund and the only people slowing it down will be the banks. Direct your anger at them.

The situation will not get better, it will get worse. If your claim is delayed as a result of someone else claiming money that is rightfully theirs then the banks are the only ones to blame in this whole mess for taking the money unlawfully in the first place.

I hope more people do claim and force the banks to realise they just cannot win this one this time around. Perhaps the complete clogging of their systems and orders against delay from the Ombudsman or a completely frustrated and overworked judge will put an end to this once and for all. Perhaps we would see true costs announced and refunds will be made automatically across the board.

One can but dream eh ?

I had a dream that I was eating a giant marshmallow...when I woke up, i had chewed half of my pillow!!

Hi, I am claiming from HSBC as well and they offered 25% less than claimed and not paying interest, so afer i got that letter i just filed MCOL this week, so we will wait and see. Same bank have been charging on my business accounts as well and im busy working out all the charges to do same. Stick to timescales and let them worry if they go over them.
Also today had second letter from cap one saying their offer is the same as last one ( i refused first offer as was within 14 days of second letter to them)
so will be filing MCOL for them over weekend

Well thats good to hear, thanks Twinkly. This may sound a stupid question, but is my credit card account number just the long number across the card, and do I need to include my sort code with my current account number?

Not stupid question, it used to confuse me too but yes the credit card account number is the 16 digit number above your name and issue and expiry date on the card. I would include the sort code with the current account number yes.

    :)

Definately do this with Capital One - they tried all these kinds of delaying tactics with me but I just filed MCOL and got the full amount back with interest and the court fee so it does work ;)

    hi guys
i wrote to natwest on 17th march. i just called to see if they had recieved my letter and i was told yes and an offer for £558 has been sent £558 was just charges so they wont give me anything for interest (£80.02) im actually happy with this after looking again at the charges on bank statements i see i was already refunded 2 ammounts...

anyyway i called cab regarding i wanted the money in a cheque and not paid into the bank account as im over drawn and with credit managament i wouldnt recieve a penny.. anyway cab have emailed me a template letter to send which says its my money and they should refund me how i want it to be refunded, i then called the county court in torquay and the lovely gentlemen there told me he had other people the same position as me.... filed with court as they want the money to go to other debt, anyway he sayed not one bank turned up at coirt and then i won throuh defult, the court say i have the money how i see fit, if they pay it into my bank then i will go back to court and say i have not receved the money in the way i wanted so i will have to get the balifs in!!!

just thought i would let you know as there maybe someone out there in same situation with me....

    all the best
