  • Well, there will always be human era, but as it seems to be happening so much shouldnt the supervisors pick up on this ?

If i did not do my job in the right way I would expect no less than to be comlained about, and that is what this forum is for isn't ?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, even express it, but you have done enough of this already Pollycat. And that is my opinion.

Problem sorted, have just spoken to David Thorington, he quite understood how an offer sign below one product and above another could be misconstrood. He also apologised for David and Alex's unpleasant attitude. He's very generously offered me a £5.00 giftcard when I next go in.

That will certinly smooth my ruffled feathers. :T

Now for a cuppa tea and some of Sainsbury's raspberry ripple cheesecake. :D

I was over charged in Sainsburys - Redhill. The "customer service" (I use the term loosely) was horrible:eek:
First of all her attitude was "I have probably made a mistake".
Then - "they are busy & I will have to wait while she calls someone over".
By now I was ruffled with her attitude.
I pointed out they were stacked 20 foot away - you could almost see the sign.
So she (begrudgingly) went & looked.
Came back muttering & complaining about others not doing their jobs, processed the refund & handed me the money.
At NO POINT did I receive any apology for being over charged (not that its her fault, just something you say as a company representative - I know I've apologised on behalf of my employer), no apology for starting the transaction with - you probably read the wrong ticket & assuming I was wrong.........
I took my money & turned to walk away, I turned back to tell her I wasn't impressed with her rudeness (I had been perfectly civil to her - my crime was to have been overcharged:() & she was on the phone, saying she was fed up with awkward customers:eek:

I'm a supermarket tart, I use Waitrose & Tesco most (they are closest), Asda & Sainsburys less so. I've NEVER come across anyone like her in the other three & I won't be shopping in Sainsburys again ;)

I should have told the store really, but I will vote with my feet.

Name dropping, unlike some* I conduct myself with courtesy, I believe myself to be of good moral character, am generous, principled and considerate.
I do try not to be unkind or unpleasant.

When I am wrong, I apologise and I am congruent !!!!

When I telephone someone I usually ask their names politelly, they always ask mine !!! The three people I named were the three people I dealt with concerning this matter.

On first name terms with the staff !!!! What are you talking about ?

Sainsbury's : Pontypridd, has only been open what ? two months.

You are getting hot under the collar with all that hot air you're expressing.

Why don't you relax with a cuppa charr and a hob nob.

This isn't just Sainsbury's, it happens at all supermarkets. What you have to remember is they sell thousands of products and they have to price them all. There are bound to be mistakes made. And as much as you want to believe it's all a big conspiracy, there are plenty of times I have seen the mistake the other way around. In fact, just today I bought a bottle of shower gel for £1.49 which was advertised at £2.98.

its a shame the op has to get their friends to make an account just for the sake of trying to argue a point on this forum

As an A&E nurse, your spelling frightens me, so many medicines and health conditions have such similar names.

Anyhow, what I really wanted to say, I was driving out of Pontypridd and spotted the new Sainsbury building as I was stopped at traffic lights. Wow! what a luxurious, spacious, well laid out store it looks - for a moment I had supermarket envy, and I'm not even a Sainsbury fan, shame it's about 60 miles from where I live,or I'd give it a go.

Also, I have been overcharged in my local Tesco Express, however, have also been the recipient of their errors. It all evens out. Funny how we moan when we get overcharged by a quid, but keep smugly schtum when the till fails to recognise a £5 bottle of wine.

Getting wound up for £1.99 is not worth it, even allowing for the £5 voucher, yet 18+ minutes on the phone, probably at 40p per minute. Sometimes you just have to kick yourself for not noticing the error as it goes through the till.

You know, I had quite a good and informative reply to all this - as an ex insider I was going to tell you how it all works and why some stores are better than others (and exactly how the system tracks pricing complaints and what "should" happen with them)... I pretty much helped write the book on price control for Sainsbury's back in the day.
Before the depressingly inevitable accusations of bias roll in, there's a good reason I am an EX employee and it's fair to say I have no real love for them at all these days; I could rant about them in a way that would make the OP's complaint look like glowing praise! I am a supermarket tart these days too, and go where the offer/convenience is.

But, you know, I'm gonna pass on the information sharing. Being accused of ridiculing the OP by someone apparently unrelated (who just so happened to stumble upon these forums and joined up backing up the OP at such a convenient time... not accusing, just point out the amazing coincidence ;) ) ...and frankly sublime descent into discussions about biscuits (I'm a rich tea girl myself, just so you know) have served to only reinforce one particular prejudice I thought I had long ago shaken off. It's kind of got me not wanting to play in this particular sandpit. :o

Yes OP, I do think it they had been made aware of the problem BEFORE your complaint as you/Mary assert then that's a perrectly valid complaint. We can only speculate on why nothing was done then, but I am sure now David Wossisname has been so vocally made aware of the issue, he's probably chewed the nuts off some poor shrub over it.

Just to clarify what offence is being made in pricing complaints. It is not fraud. It's an offence under the Consumer Protection Act to give indication likely to be taken as an indication that the goods are being offered at a price less than that at which they are in fact being offered. (Can't believe I still have that memorised after all these years!)
Offences can carry a very significant fine but provided the offender can show "due diligence" they are unlikely to get prosecuted and, more likely, Trading Standards would pay a visit and have a little chat/talk through papperwork/issue a notice of improvement. That's usually enough for someone to buck up their ideas but I have known there to be prosecutions. The biggest fine I ever knew of was £85,000.#

My advice to anyone who suffers regularly with one particular shop overcharging/misleading on regular basis - and them not seeming to do anything about it - is to speak to trading standards and complain.
"So long and thanks for all the fish" :hello:
