"Struggling with a trolley and several cloth bags"

That's one misunderstanding Pollycat, the trolley is filled with the heavy stuff i.e. sacks of cat litter, glass bottles, tins, several 2.5kg bags of potatoes and other heavy vegetables, frozen packs and joints of meat or chickens. .

Blimey ! How do you manage to get the bus home with all the tins, joints of meat, cat litter and several 2.5kg bags of potatoes in addition to your several cloth bags ?
  • When you have to, you just manage somehow. It is better than having to take the train for an hour, then have to walk from Lisvane train station to Sainsbury's thornhill, that's a mile and a 1/4, one way !!! Which is a back braker. I still have to do that some weeks, as the train is cheaper by £4.00 than the bus. But if someone has a day ticket for the bus I borrow it and go to Pontypridd.:D

when we shop i always do everything by weight first, price second. its very easy to be sucked in by an 'offer' which in fact turns out to not be an offer at all due to the same product of a much greater weight actually working out cheaper.
Even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day, and for once I'm inclined to believe Withnail is right. We are indeed drifting into the arena of the unwell.
  • Rather than struggling with all that shopping that distance I'd do internet shopping
    2014 Target;
    To overpay CC by £1,000.
    Overpayment to date : £310

    2nd Purse Challenge:
    £15.88 saved to date
  • However, Sainsbury's staff/ managers have corrected their mistakes many times, usually with charm and apologies. I have a pile of the initialed reciepts to prove my point. So thats an end of it retailXpert.

Ah so, basically, what you're saying is, that normally they just pay out at whatever complaint you have without any hassle, and this one time the actually checked - and found you were in the wrong - and didn't and this is what you're upset about?

Problem sorted, have just spoken to David Thorington, he quite understood how an offer sign below one product and above another could be misconstrood. He also apologised for David and Alex's unpleasant attitude. He's very generously offered me a £5.00 giftcard when I next go in.

That will certinly smooth my ruffled feathers. :T

Now for a cuppa tea and some of Sainsbury's raspberry ripple cheesecake. :D

Thus proving the "liberal application of oil on a squeaky wheel" theory. :)
"So long and thanks for all the fish" :hello:

I feel forced to defend my honesty after your comment.

Everyone makes mistakes, no one is perfect. But when mistakes are made I believe they should be acknowledged/ accepted, then the mistake can be rectified.

Sainsbury's have now done this. After all, it was Sainsbury's mistake.

I reiterate I have been wrongly charged on numerous occasions in the last 18 months at various Sainsbury's stores. I have the initialled reciepts to prove this fact. That is why I brought it to their attention, so that they could deal with this problem they have. Sainsbury's was very good previously in not doing this; wrongly charging.

If you read the previous posts you would have read that the price was on the wrong shelf where there were only 500g boxes and the Sel did not specify a weight.

Then start checking your receipt before you leave the store.

And stop automatically assuming that everything works out correctly at the till.

    It's really not rocket science.

You really carry all this stuff on 2 buses home?
    Really?
I'm assuming you mean a pull-along shopping trolley that belongs to you (rather than a metal one that belongs to Sainsbury's).
I have one of these - and I couldn't pull this (loaded with what you say you buy) and carry 2 cloth bags at the same time, and certainly not rush to catch 2 buses.

And if as you say you are doing heavy shopping, then your receipt will not be a yard long, will it?

It's not like you are buying 300 individual packets of instant soup, all different flavours and different prices.
A receipt like that would certainly take some checking, but not one that had 2 x 2.5 kg potatoes, bag of cat litter, joints of meat etc.

Your excuse of not being able to check your receipt before you leave the store because you have to rush to catch the bus is a bit thin (IMHO, of course).
If you are that tight on time, just a little hold-up at the check-out would mean you risk missing the bus.

Well, *retailXpert* I am not claiming that Sainsbury's website priced the product incorrectly, I said the large blazing red special offer sign was incorrectly placed. Therefore misleading.

And to answer another post, I can't stand at the till checking my reciept, I am too busy packing my shopping. Struggling with a trolley and several cloth bags, I then rush to catch the last bus at 6.12pm from Sainsbury's, or I have to walk back to the bus station, and I have a strapped broken toe and would find that difficult. I then have to catch another bus and then another, before I arrive home to prepare a cooked tea for a family of 5, which includes a disabled person. So excuse me if I am not able to stand and correct mistakes Sainsbury's make regarding my purchases, I simply don't have the time, it's Sainsbury's job not to make mistakes, and if they do they should humbly apologise and make amends.

The Sel did not have a gram on it, it simply read :
Tilda Boil in the bag, Pure basmati/ brown rice.

And as the only two products that matched the discription on the shelf were both 500g packets, I picked one up.

I check my receipt as I am walking to the exit of the store, so if a mistake is found, it is easy to get it rectified without undue stress and hassle.*

Personally, if you have to get all those buses, maybe internet shopping would be the way to go for you, it would be less stressy and quite possibly cheaper!

*I have 3 disabled people at home of which I am the sole carer so not exactly a rush free life here either......
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

As to the poster who claimed I repeatedly contradicted myself, re-read my posts, then point them out to me please.

I'll try and sort out the misunderstanding.

The woman is a marvel - all that shopping and two buses to get home !!

from what i gather this was an error on your behalf? but you claim the sign was misconstrued to suggest something else. if sainsburys wanted to they could have given you sweet F.A, as they always have the backup of internet prices and the fact you could have checked your receipt more promptly. they used their discretion and with that id be greatful

if i lived that far away id be doing internet shopping. they pick and pack it all for you and for your transport costs delivery would cost no more. plus theres always free codes for delivery knocking out on the net. plus when you get delivery if theres something theyve substituted or got wrong you can refuse it at the point of delivery and will be instantly sorted out
