Weekly Flylady Thread 9th April 2007

Welcome to the weekly Flylady thread, usually ran by Moggins but I'm just filling in temporarily. If you need help organising your week when it comes to housework, or just the motivation to do the dreaded housework tasks you have to do, come and join us, hopefully make it a little easier. You never know, you might start to enjoy it!

For those just starting, it does get easier each week, it may take you an hour to do the tasks set at frst but in no time you'll get it down to less than half that (ask the others they are the living proof) Don't try to catch up, if you join us on a Friday start from then, everything will come back round again. Noone on here is perfect, there are some days I don't get everything done, but as always I give it a good go! Some find it best to set a 15 minute timer for each room/part of the task.

A few of the basics before we start the week.
Hotspots are any areas which if one thing gets put there loads of other things follow!

Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc

Nighttime routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.

27 Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a binbag and whizz around the house finding 27 items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.

Right then here goes Monday, sticking with last weeks plan of sitting rooms first.

Manic Monday - Lovely living rooms, heavenly halls and SAFE stairs!

Living room
1. Dust everything, get those ornaments down, dust them, furniture, photo frames clocks etc too!
2. TV area - clean TV, cabinet, make sure you give the digi boxes/video/dvd players etc a wipe before putting them back
3. Clean the living room window
4. Vacuum/Sweep and Mop, oh you lot love this one, inc under furniture you can move safely etc and those skirting boards
5. If the sofa needs a vacuum orwipe do so, check those cushions incase they need a wash, make most of nice weather and get them done
6. Move anything that shouldn't be where it is, like books, paperwork/magazines, toys etc
7. Water any plants
8. Wipe down living room door and handles
9. If you have a rug or cushions for the floor pop them on the line if it's nice to air them out

Hall & Stairs
1. Cobwebs - can you see any? get them dusted off
2. Clear the way, make sure your hall/stairs are not a safety/fire hazard, make sure those coats and shoes are tidy
3. Check fire/smoke alarms, make sure they work and if required change battery
4. Vacuum throughout inc up the stairs, but take a cloth with you
5. Wipe hand rails on the way back down

Seeing as it's a Bank Holiday no extras for today, aren't I nice to you all!

I'm going to make the most of DH being at home and see where i can get up too. The house isn't looking too bad. It's fairly clean under the bits of clutter (ie toys) there are.

    Monday 9/4:
Manic Monday - Lovely living rooms, heavenly halls and SAFE stairs!
    Living room
    1. Dust everything, get those ornaments down, dust them, furniture, photo frames clocks etc too!
    2. TV area - clean TV, cabinet, make sure you give the digi boxes/video/dvd players etc a wipe before putting them back
    3. Clean the living room window

    6. Move anything that shouldn't be where it is, like books, paperwork/magazines, toys etc
    7. Water any plants
    8. Wipe down living room door and handles
    Hall & Stairs
[STRIKE]1. Cobwebs - can you see any? get them dusted off [/STRIKE] only done on Friday

[STRIKE]2. Clear the way, make sure your hall/stairs are not a safety/fire hazard, make sure those coats and shoes are tidy[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]3. Check fire/smoke alarms, make sure they work and if required change battery[/STRIKE]
    4. Vacuum throughout inc up the stairs, but take a cloth with you
    5. Wipe hand rails on the way back down

    Make baby bottles
Make jacket potatoes and chilli/salad for lunch
Make salmon, and veggies for dinner
    Make fruit based baby purees
    Adjust baby buggy
    Wash curtains from master bedroom
Clean back door uPVC and glass
Clean outside of patio doors uPVC and glass
Clean outside of front door and porch uPVC and glass
Clean inside of front door and porch uPVC and glass
    Shake out the door mat
    Clean the porch floor
Pack 3-6 month clothes in boxes
Ring npower with reading and about DD increase
    Do some ironing
    Put ironed clothes away
    Lower babys cot
Dismantle old bed in spare room
    Hoover space under bed
    Swap beds in spare room
Clean outside of window in spare room
    Wash curtains from spare room
plus anything else that comes up throughout the day

I'm going to admit to myself that some of these things are on the wish list, so will see how i go, and what doesn't get done i won't get upset by. I am going to prioritise dealing with the ironing, and packing away Charlie's clothes he has grown out of as these have been on the list a few weeks and i am getting nowhere quickly with them. you must be as fed up as me of seeing them there. :p

Also, if it is nice again, i think we should do something in the garden, as it was last touched by me when i was about 35 weeks pregnant, and DS is now nearly 6 months pld, so that was a good while ago, and the ivy and other climbers have gone bonkers with the nice weather.

Anyway, DH doesn't look like he's making a move to wash up, so i'd best start some negotiating.

It's supposed to be my turn for a lie in tomorrow morning, but i don't know if i'll bother.

    See you all tomorrow.
    Michelle, x

Thanks lil_me for today's list, a nice easy start to my week after not a lot accomplished last week.

    Also to do today...

Help DS with another sheet of homework
Send some emails to 5 friends to catch up and arrange a night out
Condense the amount of room being taken up by all DS's Easter eggs by throwing away/recycling all that unnecessary wasteful packaging
Try and reduce the ironing pile
    Read through passport application
    Sort out banking on-line

Hope everyone is having a good bank holiday.
...it is not of more importance than daily life, which I have an enduring wish to make as useful and beautiful as possible.

  • I soaked the oven shelves in washing powder over night - I am *so* impressed as to how clean they came up. Ok they aren't perfect, but I can see silver !! They could probably do with another soak to get the completely clean.

Now I have semi shiney shelves there is no excuse for me not to clean the cooker tomorrow (assuming kitchen day is tomorrow and lil_me doesn't change them all round completely !)

I was going to post here earlier but it was so quiet I thought I might just get an echo back so I went back to bed with the paper and the cats!

Still in 'jamas -I only got dressed yesterday 'cos there was washing to put out and while I don't give two hoots about looking a fright, I live next door to a church and it was a tad busy yesterday; I don't like to offend.

Thanks for todays tasks Lil_me, I overdid it yesterday so easy day today with no plans before back to Bedlam work tomorrow.

Suppose I should make a start. I might even get washed today..Ah, who knows.

Have a happy Bank Holiday all.

    Morning all!!

Here I am sat a work (very busy:rolleyes: ). Pleased it is lounge as when I get home plan to shampoo the lounge carpet so will be pulling furniture everywhere anyway. Littles are at Nannies for the day so thought I would do the impossible jobs whilst they are out of the way.

Have left DH with list as long as his arm of jobs to do (he he he) including strimming the edge of the lawn and trimming the hedge. Oh and weeding the garden path, its one of those herringbone pattern brick paths, about 90ft long and a real pain in the bum! I did put weed killer down but the dead grass lookes even worse, so if he gets it clear will give another dose of weedkiller and that should be it for 6 months.

When DH collects me from work may pop to local gardening centre for weedkiller and some strawberry plants. Did want to plant some veggies with littles this year but as house is on market not sure about moving all the containers etc?? But thought we could do hanging baskets for the strawberries.

    Right so list for today:-

    Done before work

    WM done & pegged out
    Bathroom S & S
    Kitchen S & S
    Beds aired and made
    Downstairs hoover through

    TO DO:-

    Pop to Garden Centre
    Shampoo Lounge Carpet
    Do Hall

    Enjoy the sunshine everyone
