Only the BBC channels would work last night and nothing else, so back to the whole reset thing again and voila!!

rexel - a Saorview box will get the same channels when connected to the same aerial, and be blocked at the same time.
not true football was blocked on sky rte 2 but not on my saorview box

Yep we got to watch Citeh get spanked in glorious HD :)

Sky can (and have to) block certain programmes like CL footy and prem highlights shown earlier than the BBC on a Saturday night, I'm sure freeview will have to do the same when carrying RTE channels, its a whole rights issue thing :o Anyone who gets Saorview however cannot be blocked :)

I suppose getting Saorview where I live will make up for only having freeview light ;)
I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:

That was the reason why NTL couldn't put RTE on their platform over here for so long,Coronation Street & Advertising.
Apparently Corry started BEFORE it started up North,so the reasoning was fans would watch the RTE one & see adverts for a company in Eire & not the company advertising on UTV.

im from tyrone and ive the same issue .. had rte1/2 fine .. now have a toshiba hd tv 42XV555db .. its supposed to have freeview i think, but cant get rte tuned

    any ideas?

someone said i might need a new aerial

If you got RTE previously fine on analogue you will get it fine on digital, your Toshiba much like my newish 40" living room one is not MPEG 4 compatible even thou it has a freeview tuner. Buy a freeview HD box with HDMI output (about £40) Plug the aerial into that and do a channel scan, you should get freeview and saorview in Tyrone.

Cheers - thank for the info.

I read somewhere that as I only received rte1/2, not tv3 that i could have issues with my aerial.

wonder has any1 else in tyrone area had the same issues?

think i might go for a saorview box if needed then as i get extra channels tv3 etc
dont think the thought of another remote though.

wonder with a set top box is there any way to use this with the toshiba tv remote.

    cheers

rexel - that wasn't the point I was making - the point I was making is that what's blocked depends on the SOURCE, not on which box you have.
Great that that match was on then, I told my granddad to try it but it would probably be blocked. Good news if it wasn't blocked locally, even if it was on Sky too.
And to make the same point again, when steveymp talks about 'getting Soarview' of course, just buying the box won't fix anything. He'd need an aerial pointing at a different transmitter. He knows this...

gpduffy - you were receiving RTE1/2 analogue from a southern transmitter. the analogue signal has now been switched off north and south. What you will be able to receive now does NOT depend on whether you get a Freeview HD or SoarviewHD box, it depends on where your aerial is pointed. Do you have 2 aeriels, one for north and one for south, or were you lucky enough to get them both through one?
Asking your neighbours what they've getting might be best.
Remotes - usually it works the other way round, you buy a box that comes with a 'learning' remote, type a number into it for Toshiba, and control your TV (just on/off and volume is all you'll need now) from the box's remote.

The football was, and always will be, blocked on RTE when broadcast from the NIMM. If you got the football then you are receiving the RTE signal from across the border.

Incidently, the signal has now been boosted so signigificantly that I can pick up The Real RTE using my normal horizontally alligned, Divis pointed aerial.
