MSE News: George Osborne to make £10bn welfare cuts

You must be reading some very different threads from the ones I read - MSE is a university for shirkers!
I'll never forget that thread where that person told us their child had to look after them and had done for years, and they couldn't go out so they needed ATOS to come to their home. Yet on the competitions board, they had posted pictures of their holiday in India, no walking sticks, climbing up childrens climbing toys and lots of steps!RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

The hatred on this thread really is shameful.
On a thread with many posters you will always have one or two people who post tongue in cheek comments but you are being very dramatic in calling it hatred.
There is no hatred or vitriol in this thread else it would have been pulled pages ago. There is passionate debate and no one has so far stepped over the line.0 -
To Mazza (my quote never worked)
People will always have differing opinions based on their own personal circumstances. Eg Higher Rate Tax payers who have little disposable income after they pay for work won't have the same opinion as those who have been on IB (no testing) for years.
You have very strong opinions Re Atos due to your's and your daughters circumstances. I can't comment Re ATOS as have no comment as to how they are performed or the results that are shown.
I have little patience for people I think are "taking the pee" and say so, but I think I have compassion for those that deserve it.
What I have observed though is how "some" posters are so black and white it is amazing that they have any friends or family. In fact the majority of the so called "benefit bashers" have reasoned arguments, accept conditionalities, don't do a blanket sweep, and although their opinions are strong they accept individuality.
I can't say the same for all posters who will never see the grey in their arguments.
Take yourself for Eg - You support disability benefits but you have and do still at times point out if you think someone is "swinging it". You may do it more politely, but you do it the same as the others when you say. I don't think you''ll get DLA, we just say "why on earth do you think you'll get DLA. Ie you have grey in your colour scheme.
I also can't beleive how people churn out personal attacks, the word troll and bully when the way they have just spoken to a poster was nothing short of full scale rudeness.
In short some debate (and see the merit of differing opinions) and others play victim and attack if the see a poster with a differing opinion. Life would be so dull if everyone thought the same0 -

Some people with disabilities can work.
Haven't you worked this out yet: nobody minds paying for those who really can't work and those in a short term job loss, but who usually work a full week?RENTING? I disagree completely. To be saying I have munchausens because I try to get help for my daughter? This isn't hatred to you? Don't get me wrong, it gave me a laugh, but the bile that's spewed out is laced with hatred.Originally Posted by PaulF81

I'm not bashing. I genuinely loathe them for needlessly bleeding the uk dry
Is loathing not the same as hatred?
PD - I do agree with you. But there was testing for IB, just not as rigorous as it is now with the WCA. I can see 2 sides of it, I just don't see where this hatred of genuine claimants is coming from. Actually i do, it's coming from some who think they are better than others.
When I said the ones who are shirking aren't the ones going to be on here defending. I meant defending on benefit threads not asking for advice on how to get benefits. I should have mentioned this thread specifically, not the boards and for that I apologise, it must have been the sleep as I posted when I just woke up, late nap today

No one is denying this but it doesn't necessarily stop a person from employment. As I posted earlier a chap I knew (who sadly passed away) had both legs amputated as a child but always worked and spent years in the printing industry.
I was chronic Asthmatic and could easily have gone down the benefits route and in fact was encouraged to do so by my old GP but didn't.
I did a 3 year apprenticeship in Carpentry & Joinery and have run my own workshop for the last 15 yrs or so and been self employed for over 20 years. I was fortunate in having a great employer during my apprenticeship who could put up with me having days off ill but I also understand that not every employer is so understanding.
Its the level of disability and a persons mindset that counts IMO.........0 -

It wasn't hatred at all. Surely even you can see that at least on a lot of these threads you go on and on about your daughter's ailments and her problems appear to be the focus of your life, even to the extent of going to the doctor with a supposedly independent adult. For instance I believe you have a school age son, you never mention him. The only reason I know is because you said you moved when your daughter left to a smaller house.
I do understand your wanting to help her. I want to help my husband but I don't give chapter and verse of all his appointments, illnesses, drug therapies etc. I like to not think about it if i can. I certainly wouldn't discuss such personal matters as my daughters sex life and contraception on an internet forum.0
