Is that info correct though.? (havent had time to read it all yet).
someone else mentioned a change in the law. causing too many points in a short period to lead to a ban ??
The info is correct. New drivers who accumulate 6 points in the two years from passing their test have their licence revoked (Road Traffic (New Drivers) Act 1995).If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
don,t they usually offer the chance to attend a speed awareness course at 9 points ????? .look it up or ask you local police ect
from what i have read the people who run them are holy than thou little hitlers , who do not know the words please and thankyou, and milk their one bit of authority . but if get your points wiped might be worth tolerating.
what you need is a Sat Nav with Speed camera warnings to beat the system.
(Road angel is supposed to be the best for all fixed and mobile cameras.)
i,m not apoligising for that statement either !!!!!!
the Traffic laws in this country are a joke. the people who insure and tax their cars are the easy targets with the most revenue potential ...so thats who gets targeted.
the real criminals , the ones that do not register cars or insure them , or road fund them ,or even pass a driving test, slip the net beacuse cameras and idiots in vans with radar guns have replaced traffic police in cars .
personally i would rather pay the Sat Nav people the initial cost and subscription to dodge the cameras . than line the coffers of Greddy Gordon and his two faced enforcers.
NO POINTS AND NONE COMING HERE CAUSE YOU DON'T GET ME !!!!! how do the powers that be like them apples ????Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -

the thing is a few days ago I got another one at the same camera....
37mph..in a 30
It seems I have been caught on 2 mondays in a row..
Any advice appreciated.
Are you sure you want advice about this?
*Shrugs*
OK...Slow down, protect your job and pay up...
And before anyone wants to bring up the moral high ground again...the OP did ask for advice, although I can't help feeling this probably isn't the kind of advice he was after.
It infuriates me that people think they can break the law and then find a loophole to get themselves out of it.
And I repeat...please don't flame me : The OP did ask.Good Enough Club member number 27(2) AND I got me a stalkee!

If you are about to lose your licence you can easily go to the court and plead 'Undue Hardship' will be caused by the loss of your licence if, indeed , you can justify the claim.
I have been up twice about to lose my licence in the past but because I needed my car for my job, I kept my licence."Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0 -
1) Get a SatNav which is compatible with Speed Camera Warning POIs.
2) Subscribe to speed camera database on https://www.pocketgpsworld.co.uk at £2 per month or £19 per year.
This solution resulted in me modifying my driving style.
Before doing this I peaked at 9 points.
I now have a point-free licence. Last ones now over 4 years old and removed from my licence.
I drive 30-40000 miles per year.
You will also notice when using SatNav that your speedo does indeed display approx 3-4mph MORE than the speed you were actually doing, so.....
When you were 'done' for 36mph and 37mph, you THOUGHT you were actually doing 40mph
When you were done for 45mph average speed in a 40mph SPECS zone, you actually thought you were doing 50mph AVERAGE!!!

What concerns me, more than the speed itself, is the number of people who post on here saying they have been caught out by speed cameras.
Either you didn't see them or you deliberately drove through them at an indicated speed well above the limit.
For me, that's far more dangerous than a few mph over the limit itself. Can I help?0 -

this will take me up to 9 points (i think) as i already got an avereage speed ticket 6 months ago (45 in a 40..roadworks)..
Any advice appreciated.
I do admit I was speeding. but my job relys on my licenceand I have an unblemished record for 27 years till this year..
Now I have a driving job.(aprox 2000miles a month).
I was wondering..does the law allow you to be nabbed again before they let you know you have been nabbed the first time?.
And should I try fight or just pay up..?
Hi love,
I was caught in Cardiff once, I didnt reply to the summons (it doesnt come via recorded delivery). That was 4 years ago, I havent heard anything since.
Apparently, they have such a backlog, if you dont reply, they dont chase it up.
Worth a try.
My neighbour got away with it once by saying that during that week, a bloke from Argentina was driving the car and he could get his address if they wanted to chase him up.
Good luck0 -
imho it's a bit cheeky prattling on about moral high grounds when there is a perfectly good reason for the 30mph limit--I presume have you seen the ad with the little girl coming back to life reminding us that at 30mph there is an 80% chance she'll live at 40mph there's an 80% chance she'll die.
OP- you did wrong, got caught, you have seen the error of your ways, looks like you will have to get used to driving within the speed limit. That's the way the system works, only if you speed again will you lose your licence. You have had the wake up call.;)
I am not blameless here, I did used to speed without really thinking about it in 30 zones until the police started targetting the area. It shocked me at first how often I had to make myself slow down when I spotted them, but once I got used to always keeping to the limits, and used to the noise of the engine at each speed it seems normal now.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

The trouble with getting bolshy about it is if you get caught another time and ask to be looked upon favourably - they would perhaps think you were trying to be smart and were a hibitual speeder who tries to wriggle out of his penalities.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19
