    Stalkers are *great* ;)

    Thanks for this.
We've already been doing a lot of adjusting with our week to week life, although it could probably still do with some tweaking.

Our budget has changed a bit since we first started, payments to CCCS reduced a couple of times but has been stable until Mr BR's salary drop recently.

You've given me some good ideas re: Christmas.
We do need to do a little list anyway of who we're planning to buy for although it's never been that many, and to a couple of people it's been token pressies anyway so something really cheap, jazzed up, would fit the bill there for sure.
As I mentioned earlier in the thread, we've also been keeping an eye out in charity shops through the year for stuff. We also look in The Works, B&M and Home Bargains although I have to admit, I feel a bit of a cheap-skate. However, we don;t have the money to go mental and so it's more thoughtful gifts this year for everyone, or lots of little ones in a box, wrapped up individually.

I have a diary too, if you fancy a real stalk ;)

Thank you, don't think it of being a cheap skate, think of it being a thoughtful present, and in all honestly, a lot of people want to have that chat - lets not do presents / set a budget / secret santa etc but they want someone else to say it then its yep thats a great idea, just was I was thinking.

If you want some ideas the thread - "thrifty gifty santas challenge 2012", (thats a mouthful), we start getting organised in jan, and have monthly challenges, help with organisation, but we're all doing xmas on a budget all different reasons, and float ideas around, or if there are bargains out and about, or if your stuck with what to get someone - were a wide age group, so we should be able to come up with suggestion for your budget.

    xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

hi BR i have two bits of support the way i look at our debt is as a seperate entity if that makes sense, that is how i lived my life in the past and going on DMP is a chance to wipe the slate clean and have a fresh start this will mean living life differently but not in a bad way, and it may take years to pay the debts off, but yes they will get paid off eventually, its here and now that i have to cater for, my sister in law is also on a DMP and we have decided for christmas rather than buying each other presents we will give something much more precious and will be getting together at either out house or hers for a meal, nothing flash just our chance to raise a toast and wish each other all the best.

On the counselling front, give it time, the first sessions can feel like the spanish inquisition, but once you make the breakthrough that WILL come you'll feel so much better, chin up and i'm sure you'll get there
LBM 2 and the OH is onboard sept 12, DMP will start on the 1st November, DFD who cares as longs as it comes:)
1 year down 5 to go and now under 30k and 10% paid off

Re: the counselling, it's not a new thing, been going on now for a few months and will cease in about 5 weeks. I feel worried about this as I don;t feel 'fixed'.

You may find that counselling isn't about 'fixing' you, but about getting you to explore yourself and find a way of expressing your feelings.
Sometimes it gives us the tools with which to move forward, sometimes it helps us understand why we behave the way we do. And sometimes it just opens up a can of worms that we find hard to put the lid back on to.
Different types of counselling help in different ways and maybe you haven't found the right type or the right person. Have you tried telling your counsellor this? They may be able to help you further.
You have to be very brave to enter into counselling and even braver to stick with it.
You did both so proving you are made of very stout stuff. I have no doubt you will win through. People like you generally do.
    Kind regards

I don't feel like I'm made of 'very stout stuff', I feel like I'm made of weak and feeble stuff.

Weak and feeble people don't tackle their problems. They run and hide. They submerse themselves in self pity and immobility, often with the help of alcohol, drugs or quite a number of other things. They fail to work their problems through and end up in a much worse place. I don't think you are.
And just remember it was the tortoise who won the race.
    Kind regards
