Anyone remember me?

Hi all,

I'm back because I've realised I need support while this DMP keeps plodding on.
Due to a change in MR BR's salary, we're now down £120 a month and so, of course the payments to CCCS have had to go down and now we're looking at 28 years of this if nothing changes.
Very hard to stay positive, frankly.
Help?
Our LBM: Dec 2011. DMP started: Jan 2012. Debt at LBM: £41,568

Oct 2012 = Current debt: £40,548.93
Oct 2013 = Current debt: £39.054.70

i would just look at it this way, was a lot of your debt on CC if so it would probably have taken you all your live to pay off if you hadn't gone on to a DMP, the debt is not getting any bigger, and it is reducing even if its just a small amount, chin up you are in a better place
LBM 2 and the OH is onboard sept 12, DMP will start on the 1st November, DFD who cares as longs as it comes:)
1 year down 5 to go and now under 30k and 10% paid off

Thanks, the debt is on a couple of CC and a bank loan, but yes I know what you mean.
I think it's the 'only just making it to the end of the month' thing for the next 28 years which is hard to cope with, esp with the lead up to Christmas

Although your payments have had to go down this time, it is likely that some time over the next couple of years things will change again. Pay rise, new job, who knows what? But then you will be able to up your payments again and that DFD will be a lot sooner than 28 years.

I would have thought with a DFD 28 years away that an IVA would be a better option. Is there a reason why this isn't appropriate for you?

  • Hey BR:hello:,

I remember you from a few months back. As soon as I read your post the first thought that came into my head was Bankruptcy. Is it definitely not an option?

    HI BR,

is it your own expenses ( essentials ) that is holding you back for 28 years or are the CC's still charging interest?

I was given an estimate ( based on no interest ) of 7 years for 37k needless to say it might take longer but as someone says your life might change. Currently i am paying for nappies which am every hopefull will stop in the next couple of months if my DD ever can be bothered to potty train ( gone 3 now) But it means thats a cost i wont bear anymore.

Do you have kids that suck every penny out of you like mine do. As i certainly hope within less than 28 years they would have got part time/ full time jobs that will mean they can stand on their own two feet or possibly contribute to their lodgings and be more responsibile spenders than their parents were. its a long time away and if you think how different your life has changed in say past 10 years its likely to improve and so will your time. dont get down hearted as your doing the right thing with trying to resolve the debt.
    hugs x
