  • My nearest Tesco is 20 mile away and I would rather drive there every fortnight then go to the newly opened Sainsburys round the corner from where I live.
For meat, I have never bought from supermarkets, I am happy to buy it from farm shops or the local butchers.
And I am on a low income.

Has anybody noticed how expensive sainsburys is getting.Have shopped at sainsburys off and on for years and have noticed they have become very dear over the last three months. They keep showing that stupid advert that tries to convince people they are on par with other supermarkets, well they aren't and i am taking my business to Tesco and Asda.
  • I don't shop in ASDA so can't comment but I don't find Sainsbury any more expensive than Tesco.

Apart from core branded items eg. Heinz beans etc, i find nearly every product is more expensive.
  • Sainsburys can be expensive but can also save you money, we are with Utility warehouse for our gas and electric and every time we shop with sainsburys and various other retailers/restaurants/hotels etc - we get money off our monthly bills, we also get nectar points and several money off coupons, including double nectar points on fuel. it all adds up and to be honest, you'll get the extra money your spending in Sainsburys back in alternative ways. this includes the money back vouchers they give you if your shop was more expensive than it would have been in tesco/asda. It can only be a good thing!

Totally disagree as these benefits you mention are worth almost nothing.
I think people just walk around with their eyes closed or have more money than sense.

I work for Sainsburys. At the moment, Clover 500g is £1. I had a few customers that had the 1kg tub - £3.80 and I explained that they could get the same amount for almost half the price if they bought it in 2x500g and willing to get a colleague to get the products. These customers didn't want to know! How bloody stupid are some people?

I usually shop at Sainsbros, it has a much bigger range (of the type of goods that I like to buy) than Asda and we don't have a Tesco. Recently we were without a car for a month so I had to shop online and used MySupermarket.com. This compares your basket to all the main supermarkets and can even recommend cheaper products in another store. Without fail, Sainsbros came out cheaper by £12-20 on a £70-80 shop.

I'm quite willing to pop in to Asda or Morrissons for a few items I know are on special offer and there are a few things I really like in Lidl, but Sainsbros win out on price and quality for me!

  • I was a regular Sainsbury's shopper (sharing my shopping with Aldi) until a new Asda opened in town. So I changed allegiances but, over the months, I have become increasingly disgruntled with Asda. Their stock control is abysmal, invariably I have come out without a few items I needed 'cos the shelf was bare.More so when the items are on offer. What is difficult about keeping the shelves stocked up? It really winds me up! So it's now back to Sainsbury's for me, it's altogether more civilised and they keep the shelves stocked up!

Yes I find sainsburys pricy tescos a bit cheaper, but as with everything these days it is a case of knowing your prices for everything
