Just me who finds Sainsburys very expensive?

Their deals are rubbish compared to Tesco, for example a product is £3 and its buy 2 for £3.50. They don't have alot of deals either. I find their fruit and veg especially very high priced.

I only go to Sainsburys if it's the only place Felix is on offer! Couldn't afford to do my main shop there.0

I don't particularly think Tesco's that cheap either. Far prefer to go to Lidls for what can get there, then Morrisons for the rest.Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?

There are bargains to be had in all supermarkets and Sainsbury's do have the odd great offer.
Overall, I agree they do appear to be slightly dearer.
I only buy their fruit and veg when "whoopsied", I do find they quality is good though and their sell-by-dates very generous.
Some great finds in the freezers if you have time to look, when they clear stuff, they really clear it.

I actually like that they are more expensive. It neans I can more easily use the money off vouchers they give out (£3 off £20, £4.50 off £30, etc)
Everything I buy is then compared against Asda or Tesco and I get back the difference (up to £10)
It's effectively buying at discounted Asda pricesApparently, everybody knows that the bird is [strike]the word[/strike] a moorhen0 -
I walked around Sainsbury's with my mother last week looking for organic veg. Ocado was cheaper than Sainsbury's for everything except spring onions, and chestnut mushrooms on offer.
I don't view Sainsbury's as expensive, myself. If you are used to shopping in Aldi, Lidl, 99p Stores, Home Bargains, Approved Foods and Poundland only however, then you may well think it is.
Waitrose, ASDA, Budgens and Sainsbury's all price match brands to Tesco, so it does take research on own brands to find the cheapest. However the cheapest isn't necessarily the best quality or VFM. That's why mysupermarket is useful.
It also depends on what you buy. If you don't buy much meat, poultry, fish and veg then you may find ready meals cheaper on offer at Tesco. Tesco always has a huge amount of offers on lunchbox stuff.
We all have preferences and prejudices, faves and dislikes when it comes to supermarkets, brands, own brands and foods. Shopping is subjective.0 -
Bought some fruit and veg for the FIL from ASDA. He said it went off
very quickly.
But the stuff from Sainsburys lasts longer.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I agree that Sainsbury's is a shade more expensive than Tesco, but I also think the quality is slightly better.
It's not always easy to spot, but you notice it in things like prepared chicken products, where Sainsbury's tends to source its meat from the UK, while Tesco... well.. who knows?
The brand 'price match' game they are all playing just now is a bit of a joke - at our expense, naturally. What they have done is choose to fight (perhaps 'pretend to fight' would be better) over high margin main brands, while ramping up the prices of their low margin own brands.0 -

Sainsburys does have better quality in some products. Tesco's fruit and veg is on par with Sainsburys in my opinion. I just think Tesco have much more yellow label / deals than Sainsburys, and when Sainsburys do have special offers, there is only around half of what there are in Tesco. For things like alcohol and chocolate, Tesco also have amazing deals on those. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
